'72 skylark steering arms - same for disc and drum?

    Are steering arms the same for front disc and drum setups? I've heard amongst chevelle owners that they've had to enlargen bolt holes or swap to disc arms when converting - should I presume this holds true for all a-body swaps?

    I assume you mean the Pitman arm. If so yes the

    71-2//// 3-4000 series manual steering arm = 7811779

    68-72 //// 3-4000 seires power steering arm = 5679209

    actually, I'm referring to the hook-shaped arms that mount to the backside of the spindles (see photo). I'm from the Mopar camp and still catching up to GM tech.

    Steerin arms are the same for disc and drum.
    I don't know what the Chevelle camp was smoking when they told you they are different.

    Well the word was that drum arms have 7/16" bolt holes and disc arms take 1/2" bolts, and that since the arms were hardened steel, it was generally easier to replace than to enlargen the holes for the larger bolts :confused: ...

    Discs use the same bolts, 7/16.
