   72 Skylark with TH350, console "U" shifter. Goes into gears, but have to "hunt" with the shifter handle? There doesn't seem to be a "notch" or "detent" for each gear? Is this a shifter or transmission issue?

   The factory shifter is sloppy like that. It wasn't meant to be routinely shifted by hand. This shifter plate makes it better,
