    tubecatgs Finally a 4 speed......

Well, what started out as just fixing a rear end leak end of winter turned into a 10 month amateur partial frame on rattle can restoration...... Can't believe I did most of this myself....Well if it wasn't for the folks in this forum who took the time to help such as SeanBuick, Alec296, BrianTruick, CarHex, Larry the Wizard, Jason Cook and so many others it wouldn't be near as nice. Please remember its a daily driver and although tried to keep mostly original, I know it's not all correct. I like the GS hood look but will always keep the Skylark Custom badging :).

Originally a North Carolina car, 3 on the tree 350-2 barrel brought up to Buffalo NY area January 2014. Mileage at time of this 95,780.

In 2014 added TA Stage 1 intake, Holley 650, bucket seats, floor hump/Muncie M20, Rally gauges and tachometer, sport mirrors (need corrects gaskets still), GS air cleaner, Fiberglass GS hood... drove it for 4 years like this...

Here's what I have done since Spring...

Reared rebuilt to 3.42 gears posi (Thanks BrianTrick)
Replaced 3 on the tree Steering Column with rebuilt floor shift column (again, thanks BrianTrick)
Muncie M20 rebuilt (An Anonymous associate of BrianTrick :))
    Blasted and painted control arms
Boxed in rear lower control arms
All new rear control arm bushings
Rear Control arm frame braces (I think designed for 4 speed cars) (Thanks ToddGS for the correct longer bolts)
New gas tank, sending unit and straps
New rubber and steel lines off tank to thing under the seat
    BMR rear springs
    KYB rear Shocks
New emergency brake cables and brake hardware
About 25 hours under the car, sanding, priming and painting the underbody and frame
    All new stainless brake lines
Front control arms blasted and painted
    New front control arm bushings
    KYB front shocks
Front BMR 1 inch lowering springs
New tie rods, ball joints, idler arm and center link
    New rubber splash guards
New/rebuilt complete quick ratio power steering set up with pump and brackets (Thanks Hector!)
New Right stuff front disc brake conversion kit, which included brake booster, master cylinder, rotors, calipers and rubber brake lines etc.
Cleaned (even used dishwasher..shhhh don't tell my wife) coolant tank/washer tank
Mostly all new rubber hoses/lines under the hood.
Sanded/painted entire engine compartment, firewall, inner fenders, most of the rad support.
    Engine rebuilt -
    Crower level 3 cam/springs/lifters
TA cam bearings, main bearings, headers, 5/8 oil pickup, Hi Performance timing cover/oil pump with booster plate and adjustable spring regulator
Heads done, new valves, guides, seals etc. no porting (I wish)
Buick V6 flat top pistons .030 over (TA had the forged pistons backordered when I wanted them)
    New Zoom Clutch, pressure plate
    New Throw-out bearing from Falcon
    New water pump
Autometer mechanical oil and water gauges
    New Z bar hardware
New clutch rod boot and bushings

Update: March 2018 new wiper motor
Hurst Competition Plus completely rebuilt (Thanks Jason)
    New 5335 Shifter handle

    Update: Winter/Spring 2020
Changed front end to 1970 GS front Grille, Bumper and Headlight Bezels. Not committing to a GS clone as of yet so found a 70's era Grille Emblem to cover the GS emblem holes in the grille.
Also swapped 72 air cleaner to 1970 style.

Winter/Spring new interior including door panels, long armrests, seats, foams and carpert. Details and pics below.

    I'm sure I'm forgetting stuff.

A few before pics and some after.

    Thanks again all!

Forgot to add... winter/Spring 2021 new interior. New black '70 style waffle grain interior... new door panels, new rear seat upholstery including new foam, bucket seats redone with new foam and new back plastics (sits an inch taller :) ) new carpet but ordered wrong carpet ( car is a 4 speed, ordered for a 4 speed with console but don't have console so it's bunched a little around the shifter.) Workmanship is driver quality, has a fee wrinkles as I am just a guy with a shop and some tools and too cheap to pay someone to do it.
