WOW:shock: Survivoirs rule!!! If I wasn't married and broke it would be in the shop next to the 66! Nice ride:3gears:
John the car is in storage and it will be a day or two before I am back on that side of town. Bert at that time I will take some close up pics of the stripes
Beautiful car Dave, How is the striping, does it show any cracking? Is the engine strong, does it use or leak any oil?? Is the carpet black?? Can you add a photo of the wiper switch issue? Is the steering wheel cracked? And finally, were you able to get any photos of the undercarriage? Could you? Thanks and have a Merry Christmas! John
I have attached a link for the color chips from 1972 Buick Skylarks and I think this car looks like a code 56 Sunburst Yellow, but take a look at the chart and let me know what you think......?o No: John http://www.tcpglobal.com/aclchip.aspx?image=1972-buick-pg01.jpg
John, thanks for your interest the stripes look like the day they were put on. no cracks. No oil drips or burning, carb could probably us a float, but it runs great and purrs like a kitten. Valve covers could be replaced just from old age. AC blows cold. The carpet is black, the wiper switch has fallen into the dash I cant tell if the screws backed off or what exactly happened, the dash will probably need to be pulled to be fixed properly. No apparent damage on the dash side. I will get some undercarriage pixs. The steering wheel is also perfect. I will confirm the color code too. But sunburst yellow appears to be the one.
Definitly not covert tan, thanks Tom, I will check the code tomarrow. My storage is next doo to my office:kodak:
Thanks for the info Dave, you can get the paint code from the cowl tag, there should be a 2 digit number on it that we can cross reference on the paint chip link I posted. If there is a 56 on it then it would be Sunburst Yellow, if there is a 50 on it, the color would be Covert Tan, and so on. It would be great if you could post a photo of the cowl tag (if you want), but I know they are kind of hard to get a good photo of, due to the positioning of the cowl tag in proximity to the hood. Thanks for the info, and again, great looking car! John
to start with, Tom the color chip on that card looks nothing like the color on the car. The trim tags indicates covert tan. ou:
The car is so clean you can still see the USSteel logo stamped on the gas tank. I love code 50 Covert Tan.
Yea..the color appears in person, to be closer to a 1971 Sandpiper Beige color. I took pix of Davids car over the summer when I visited that part of the world and in comparison, those pix look VERY close to the color of a customers 71 GS 350 4 speed I am working on now. :TU: Wheelz, Tampa Bay
Yes the car is still for sale, I will deliver to bowling green during the gs nationals only. Or somewhere along the way.
