I have had numerous 71-73 full size Buicks and have never seen this option on any Buicks before. I just aquired a 72 Riviera 40/60 split bench seat with solenoids that unlock the seat backs when you open the door. This allows the back to come forward without pushing any button or lever. There are door jamb switches right next to the courtesy light switches that actuate the release solenoids when the door is opened.

My old 71 centurion convertible had them. Didn't know what they were for a long time

It was placed on 2 door cars to lock the seat back . It would prevent a person in the back seat from pushing the seat back forward unless the door was open. My 73 Riv with buckets has it.

I have had close to 100 71-76 Buicks in my past and never came across this option or never read about it. What did the factory call this option? Line code? I think this option is more rare than the Max Trac option.

The option was called "Electric Door and Seat Locks", and, at least on the Centurion, it carried an option code of T3.

So, the electric door locks were mandatory in order to have the electric seat locks.

My 72 Centurion convertible has the option. I had not seen the option before I bought my car. I will say it is a nice option to have.

My 71 Riviera came with them on the bench seat, and I was able to move them to the seatbacks of the 72 buckets I put in my car. You still have the manual option for unlocking the seatback without opening the door (push the button, located in the middle of the back seat, as opposed to the traditional lever/latch style on the bottom corner of the seat). And yes, my car has power locks.

I must admit, it took me a few months to figure out I had them - every time I opened the door I was like "what the hell is that thumping noise??" :Do No:
