*bump* I posted this late, so probably not too many people have seen it. I can't be the first person to run across this problem. Do I need to hand form lines? Or has someone found a plug and play solution? Thanks!
Ken, Right Stuff Detailing lists it. Part#QRA7102 http://www.getdiscbrakes.com/RSeCommerce/ProductDetails.aspx?mName=QRA7102&source=List&endsWith=S It rang a bell that I had seen in their catalog lines for the boattail Rivs.
I dont have a Rivi, but I ordered a complete pre bent set from Inline tube. Decent price, quick shipping and GREAT customer service. I will buy from them again.:TU: http://www.inlinetube.com/
Dale- Thanks for the heads-up. I ordered up a set and hopefully they'll fit without too much work! ($34.77 with shipping, so worth checking out) William- I looked at Inlinetube first as I've also had good luck with them. They don't list rear axle lines for a '71-up big GM with the 9 3/8", at least that I could see. I looked for Rivs, Electra, big Olds, etc. Let's hope the "Right Stuff" is the right stuff! They have mixed reviews online. I'll report back.
Man I been gone a while but you guys are still the best. My son and I just bolted in my rebuilt 9 3/8" posi in my 73 boattail today and thought Ill just hop on here and see if anyone has found prebent brake lines for my boat. Too late today but Im gonna order on Monday. Ill let you know what I get and how they are. CJ
Ordered and should have this week.....Got the lines from the Right Stuff 44 bucks to my door......... CJ
Received my lines UPS very good delivery time. I opted for the Stainless lines put em in Saturday. Very good quality and fit. Very pleased with them. Did I mentioned I hate bleeding brakes.......... CJ
Ken- 3/16" steel lines are pretty easy to bend and flare. You can make them yourself without much difficulty. I was going to make a thread about all this stuff. Ive been noticeing threads with questions regarding bending and flaring lines every so often. I have a selection of bending and flaring tools and I got pretty good at fabricating these. If you guys feel there is enough interest in this, I'll post up some tips and tricks. Once you get the hang of it, itseasy. I just got a new 3/8" bender that can bend 3/8" steel line in a 3" diameter circle, 180 degrees. Try that!
Good to hear, Chris! Glad they fit right up. Jay, I ordered my lines right after I made my last post. There still sitting in a box at the moment waiting for the rear to come back. That's why I didn't comment on fit. $35 for plug and play ain't bad in my book- especially if you don't have any flaring tools. But a tips and tricks thread would be excellent, particularly if it inludes some tool sources in addition to the how to portion. I'm sure it would be a help to just about veryone on this board who will no doubt run across this need at one point or another.
