455 + B4B + Q-jet + 3" K&N filter + 1" K&N filter topper For the above (all of which I have), can I use a zero drop base and still have hood clearance? Or will I have a problem and need to drop. If so, how much do you think I'll need to drop? I hoping someone with some experience can chime in on this. Thanks in advance!
Hopefully someone will chime in... will be adding a B4B, a Q-jet throttle plate w/IMPCO 425 on top and a standard air cleaner in a few weeks. Need to know the clearance between B4B and the hood.
I'm running a Performer with Q-Jet. It has a 3" K&N along with a filter top. I am running a very slight drop because I had one already. Didn't try a O drop base. I have no hood clearance issues. I will try to check how much drop I have.
I don't know how much this is going to help but I've got a stock manifold with a 1" carb adapter with a Holley DP and 3" K&N air cleaner with no drop base and it fits with room to spare.
do a mock up. get some Play-Do place it around the top of the air cleaner carefuly clouse the hood then open and measure that will give you the exact clearance. I have a B-4-B, 1" carb spacer, 870 Holley, drop base with 3" K&N and have about 1" of clearance.
