First you need to know the 455 X 4 in this car had 39k on it. Just last August I had a friend who owns a High Performance shop. He re-did the 455 with all high performance parts, the entire motor. He jacked the HP from about 210 stock to above 450 HP. I have had it on stretch runs to see what it would do and found it just burns if I put the pedal half and will burn in to 2nd and part of 3rd on an automatic.

Well I was making a routine errand and was at a 2 lane stop next to a 2002 beemer and I noticed he had a tail light out. He took of kind of fast and I had only obout 2 blocks to side by side him to tell him and he mis-took it for a run.

Needless to say I had been dying to run with someone to see what the boat could after the rebuild. Side by side at the next light, which changed to fast to tell him and he took off for the run. So I decided to take him up in a split second. I put it down about half way so as not to burn, and the I let it go. I walked on by him like he was riding a bike. And when he pulled up next to me at the next light he asked what I had in there. I said all I wanted to do is to let you know you had a break light out.

He was in his 50s trying to sport and I noticed at the next auto parts store I passed he turned in to get and replace the bulb. I just said to my self what did they do to my motor!!??

Someone please view the rebuild papers and offer any suggestions... THANX

Sounds really cool, make sure you post some times if you go down the strip. Sounds like we could have a "fastest Centurion" here... :Brow:

    Rebuild on a 38K 455 X 4

I can send you the 3 page work order on the rebuild and maybe you can interpret it for me?

You better produce a dyno sheet proving the HP figures you're claiming there......[IMG]

Vic, from the invoices you posted, it looks like your friend did a very thorough rebuild, which could take a tired old motor WAY up in power. Perhaps you've got some more compression now, with new pistons, and some more camshaft duration because of the new rocker arms. It doesn't mention anything about aftermarket intake, exhaust or camshaft, but a healthy 455 with an automatic is a torque monster stone stock. Buick knew it would be moving some heavy metal from a dead stop, and they designed the engine to do just that. I'm guessing your old ignition components kept you way down until the rebuild, too. Those BMW's are great at buzzing down the interstate efficiently, but no way can they hang with the big torque of the 455! Glad you're enjoying it!
