The stripes look off, fall short in the front.. or is that just me?

The stripes look off because they run straight and not arch with the front fender...missing it's black vinyl roof too. What a mess.

Wow, its way off. There are just to many pictures or real cars to look at for true measurements.
35 years ago I came across a yellow 70 GSX where the stripes were rounded over the rear wheels and went straight again to where they were round over the front wheels.
This was a freshly painted car and the hidious stripes freshly painted over yellow. The owner was furious as we all would think.

I’ve seen (and rejected!) Hot Wheels with better paint than that!

$57,900 PLUS correcting the stripes and any other paint work involved?

    Ahhhhhhh……..not thinking so

At least it doesn’t have the Chevelle SS hood stripes but may as well, I hear they give you a free Polo shirt (size extra small) with its purchase though so there’s that…….

For the purist, the paint is but one of many worries. It has the wrong wheel centre caps, wrong air cleaner, wrong fan shroud, missing smog pump, plus a litany of small details.

If you are not particular (and there are many who are not), it is a pretty car, albeit an expensive pretty car.

I'm pretty sure I saw this car in Gateway Classics in Philly about 3 years ago when I was looking for my first GS. I don't think there are too many 72s with that color, added GSX stripes, white interior and missing their original white vinyl top. If its the same one it has some interesting history, it was part of a seizure by the feds many years ago. They showed me the newspaper clippings, I guess the owner thought it made it cooler. It's not the real deal, it was a regular 455 car that was done up like a GSX.

It was pretty nice, it just wasn't original and I don't mess with non-original cars. I agree with Randy's assessment, if you're not super particular its a decent ride. People who don't know better would think it was really cool. Guys like us would pick it to pieces.

I coyld live with or fix a lot (for a lot less money), but not those stripes. They look like Helen Keller paid Ray Charles to paint them and QC was done by Stevie Wonder.

I like it. I wouldn't give two flying monkey arses about the little details that are off about it I'd just drive it:). On a side note anyone know what brand the mufflers are on it? The ones on my Riv look exactly like them and I've been trying to figure out what they were for yearso_O.

They look like FlowMaster 2-chambers. There are a lot of copies out there though. My GS400 came with the Thrush version on it.

Mufflers are Flowmaster. There's a ton of other baffled mufflers that look exactly like them, too. If they don't have any brand on them they're generic versions like the ones sold by Summit or Jegs under their house brand name, they all look and sound about the same just so long as they have the same amount of deflectors.

Guy must have been drinking when he did the striping, price way to high.
