I was wondering if the GSX's in 72 had a dash that has the GSX emblem on it on the passenger side? Since I seem to find pics of them out there. Were there any GSX's made in 72 without the GSX emblem on the dash?

An "X" without the "X" on the dash.

Not from the factory. :puzzled: (well without it being a big screwup that you would probably never be able to document without the build sheet). :Smarty:

Odds are the pad split and was replaced, or the car could have been in an accident, in which the pad emblem was damaged & replaced with what was available at the time. :Do No:

I suppose I should ask this question different. I have a regular Skylark dash that is in my 72 that just has the "BUICK" emblem on the passenger side. I am cloning my car over to a GSX and just wanted to know if GSX's only had the dash with the "GSX by Buick" emblem on it.
If this is true where would I get one of the "GSX by BUICK" emblems to go on the dash at?

Yes, only GSX's had the "GSX by Buick" dash emblem. They sometimes pop up on ebay and there is a repro out there which, as I understand, is not a very good repro.

Parts Wanted is one such place to see if anybody has one for sale. The real one's are not cheap, BTW.

    Ok, thats different.

Somebody makes a nice repro (just like the orginal I've heard), but I don't recall off the top of my head. Ask Flynbuick, he will know. :TU:

Ok, you're fast Brad. I guess I got that wrong as for "nice repro", and I'm sure Brad knows difference. They would have to be side by side before I could tell. :Do No:

From what I understand from Duane, if you ordered a rear spoiler on your GS in 72, the line workers installed a GSX dash emblem as well. The assembly line workers didnt know if the car was eventually going to get the GSX graphics down the line. Im sure Duane will chime in here...

Duane does do a really nice job on them. I bought 2 from him about 2 years ago. They really look OEM. Hopefully he'll catch this q and chime in.

Does anyone on here know what Duane Heckman uses as his name on this board? I tried just his name but not found in sites system. Or if someone knows how to get ahold of him, that would work too. Thanks.

Duane goes by "Duane" here on the board and is a personal friend of mine. I have emailed him to stop by this thread and answer your question for sure. I personally have never heard of anything but a GSX getting the "GSX by Buick" dash pad emblem.

I'm sure Duane will be along shortly...

    Guys,
I have seen "two" regular Gran Sports that were rear spoiler "SCO", Special Order Cars, that came with original GSX dash emblems. One was a 71 GS 350 4-speed car that I was looking to buy. The other was a 72 GS 350 that Mark Reeves bought, it was advertised as a GSX, but the paperwork proved it wasn't.

Now I am not saying that all 71-72 rear spoiler SCO cars came with them, but I know that 2 did.

How is that for a non-definative answer.

Best non-definitive answer I've heard in awhile, bud. I guess what we are all saying Andrew, is that anything was possible back in those days and even today. How about this one: I know a person that bought a new Dodge Grand Caravan, or did they? One side of the vehicle was marked "Plymouth Grand Voyager" and the other side was a "Dodge Grand Caravan". I called it a Plodge...

Sounds interesting, I guess that would be another reason not to buy Mopar. :Brow:

    Guys,
One thing to keep in mind was that both cars were built in Flint and carried a 43437 model number, neither one was a skylark.
