Well this morning was eventful. A guy in a white late model Corvette picked me to play with. I was impressed with how I held him off at only 3/4 throttle!! I would have kicked it in the a** but the timing was a bit to high and unlike the chevy guys I'm not going to damage my engine to prove a point. Are the late model Corvettes out of my reach? I couldn't tell if it was a Z06 or not but he kept me on my toes!! :3gears: AL.
Did it have popup headlights or fixed? The fixed are the newest corvette's and that version doesn't have the zo6 out yet.
C5 - big difference between the Z06 and not. que's are air inlets infront of rear tires, and round exhaut tips....although alot of Non-Z's make those mods. C6- STOCK, picks up where C5 Z06's left off !! 405hp stock
Nice Job :TU: !! I had a run-in with a Mallett Corvette a month or two back. These are built in Berea, Ohio and are similar to Calloway Corvettes and are built to run upwards of 195 mph! I did OK until we hit about 125 mph or so, then he just walked away as I was all out of gear at that point. But I sure bet he was thinking "Oh s&*t!"......at least for a little while.
Corvette Challanged Phillip, now thinking the whole envent over I think that would have been the end resolt with me too. Its a unfair run and I should have known better because I don't have two extra gears and that did play in to me not really going at it. I would like to run him in a 1/4 mile and that would be fair :Brow:. I will be talking to Dave Ray and doing the Protronics or the MSD thing :3gears: AL.
This is my favorite car to spank. Did a roll-on at 65 and walked a standard `02, after he jumped first. I got off it @ 100 mph or so. Also beat a `03 Z06 at the track last year shifting 1000 rpm's early (5000 rpm's). He did not race again that night :Brow: . That was my first race outting when the motor was fresh and new. :beer
Thats great to hear a 30+ year, suspesion challenged, heavy weight, old tech car can out run a Vette. Vettes have all the technology of, suspesion, computers, weight distribution, low center of gravity etc. The only thing that has challenged my was some import. My 455 powered Cutlass put him in the rearview in about 100 feet and he steadly got smaller and smaller. Funny thing is I never got over 75 MPH. :3gears:
Corvette Challanged The only thing I have a problem with is not having to extra gears. Like Phillip said running 3:42s you still run out of gears. If I was made of money I would buy that high dollar 5 speed that out :3gears: , until that if I see that white Corvette again I'll ask for a level playing field like meeting him at the track, AL.
