    Hi guys,

It has been a long time since I have been on this forum. I am just about ready to paint my car, but I have a slight fender alignment issue.

The passenger side fender is turning "inward" so that is "under" the door. In other words when I open the door, the front tip or the door pushes against the front fender.

I have the fender at the height I want it and the gap is acceptable. Where do I shim to get the fender to be "above" the door, or get the fender to angle out slightly?

    Thanks in advance.

Pull out the bottom and shim the bolt hole in the upper jamb to bring the fender flush with the door.

    Thanks!

Can you clarify the upper jamb?

Above the bottom bolt holes, I have the two bolts at the top. One pointing up and the other pointing out.

Then I have two in the front at the core support.

    If that makes sense.

You can almost check to see if there are any shims at the bottom of the fender. If so, take them out. That will "squeeze" the fender a little and make the point come out more. Something else to try anyway

    Thanks!

There is no shims at the bottom, and you are correct, the fender kind of squeezes outward slightly.

I just figured out what 72Stage1 is talking about. There is a bolt that is behing the door. In the door jam below the window pillar.

I will try to shim that. Thanks! I am still open to suggestions though.

Thanks again! I figured it out whole you were typing :)

It has been about 6 months since I fixed the fenders and forgot about that bolt.

You can shim that, or you can also press down on the top of the fender when you're tightening that bolt...so that the fender squeezes out a bit more in the center. But watch your top edge of door to fender gap when you do that.

If the fender is low in the front for whatever reason it'll be impossible to get the door gap perfect.

    Thanks guys!

    72stage wins the prize.

I forgot that there is a bolt on the A-pillar. Instead of a shim, I used a washer so that it does not succumb to gravity or vibration.

The door clears the fender now. I hope to prime the car this week and then paint the following week.

    Hopefully it comes out OK.
