71 skylark vert, white, new top, new top hydraulics, new seat covers, carpet, good glass, good tires. The bad, was red now has crappy white paint. Will need trunk pan, stripped and painted. body mostly straight, some small dents, no major rust. Ac will need replaced and heater core as well. guy wants $8500. I think price would have been good a year ago, but market is down. What is a good price? I was looking at a 71 riv for 1850, but needed to much work. This one is at least a good driver.
$8500 is high.....you need to provide pics. Based on trunk pan rust....I bet there is other rust you can not see. I would consider $5-6k a better price since you will need paint....$2-4k, trunk pan installed $500-600....other cosmetic items......$1000....to be a nice driver. If it was a GS then the price would be fair for a rebuilder/restoration candidate car.
My experience in convertibles a little trunk rust dosen't mean much. mine has a bunch of pin holes all over the trunk floor, and a baseball sized hole in one spot. the core support under the battery was rusted out. and the cowl rust under the windshield was fixed once before i got it. Other than that, the rest of the car comes apart easily and is very solid. but for a skylark convertible it sounds a bit high, however a new top and new interior will run you about 2k and that's doing most of the work yourself.
Sounds like a $5000 car drive enjoy and get rid of it..dont dare start restoring it ..Theres plenty of nice LArks around in 10k range
