I know they made the Riviera GS with stage 1 engines but am unsure if this is one of them. This is on a salvage site that is for dealers only but I have a way to buy from it. The car is located in Seattle Washington and I have no interest as it is too far for me. I am in New York. It is a 71 Riv GS. The vin starts as 494871H9269?? I am unsure of the last 2 numbers. This may be a major score for the money, but you may want to do some research on the Riviera GS "Stage 1" engine differences from the Skylark/GS/A-body Stage 1 engines in any given year. My understanding is that basically, the '70-'73 ('74?) Riv GS 455's will have the larger valve heads of the traditional Stage 1 (A-body) package, but not the other parts like the specifically calibrated (& numbered) distributor, carburetor, etc., that make up the entire package. I am not sure about the cam in these Riv GS's as compared to the other Stage 1's. Just FYI before you spend the $$$.
