If there is not conv top material on the mechanism.....put the mechanism on a couple of sawhorses and pressure wash it. Let it air dry then paint it semi-gloss black and you are set. Good time to also install new weather stip kit on the mechanism.

Is the top frame hard to reinstall and get back in the proper location? I need to repaint my top frame on my '71 skylark before I put a new top on. Also, is it possible to powder coat the frame in one piece without dismantling the entire thing?

    Thanks,

I would not powdercoat it...you will probably end up distorting the thin metal tubes/pieces.

Easy to reinstall w/two people holding the top and one person installing the bolts.
