I checked and we've had our GS 13 years now. I know there were 377 painted this color in 71, so almost 40 years later I wonder how many are still around? Besides mine I have never seen another Platinum Mist with a white vinyl top. At a local Buick show I had a some guy run up to my car and swear I changed the top, till he looked at the trim tag! Anyone ever seen another like mine???
Nope me neither. But Ive always thought that If I chanced the color on mine again (used to be green) it would be silver... and a white top would look so cool too.
I parted out a Platinum Mist/White GS350 about 20 years ago so at least one more existed. I have the cowl tag off of it somewhere... Cool Combo! I of course am partial to the Platinum Mist cars...
Yep, looked at one that was for sale here north of Dallas about 5 years ago. Don't know what ever happened to it though.
Saddle brown and platinum mist, hmmmm.... Would be interesting as in the right light platinum mist does have a bit of blue in it. According to my trusty 71 Chassis Manual, Platinum Mist was Sales Code: P, Serv Code: 13. Hope that helps!
Look big for 14's. I talked to Curt today, mine are shipping early next week. I should have mentioned first post - GREAT LOOKING CAR.
What size did you get??? He had a set of WG's, I almost pulled the trigger on the spot, but so many here tout 8" wide! Thank You!:TU: My brain wasn't able to put the two together! ou:
I've never seen another with the white top like yours. Nice car though. I have a 71 GS350 that was originally platinum mist w/ a black top. Going back with the paltinum mist but I plan to loose the vinyl top when I paint it this time. I've also owned a couple 70 GS's that were originally platinum mist with black tops. One had the usual black guts (Stage 1) and the other had blue interior (GS455). The blue car was optioned kinda strange, I remember that it had air and pwr windows but with the plain Jane bench seat interior. Odd I thought. All three of these cars were repainted different colors when I got them, I guess b/c the silver of the day was prone to fading. Anyway nice car, definately unique.
