The cowl tag from my '71 GS built in Fremont is easy to a point...and then impossible. Looking for some help for the hard part!

    ST 71-43437 Z 00786 Body [71 GS hardtop, Fremont, Fisher 00786]
TR 166 B80 13 B PNT [sandalwood buckets, drip trim, platinum mist paint, black vinyl top]
    01C 053196 530426 [January 1971 3rd week, ?????????]

Anybody want to take a crack at these numbers on a cowl tag?: 053196 530426

Thanks in advance for any help.

The TR 166 is Saddle rather than Sandalwood. Buick didn't offer Sandalwood bucket seat interior that year. I have one of none ever made.
An exception might be an SCO car.

01C sounds right for 3rd week in Jan., mine is the same.

Others here will clarify but I believe the remaining numbers were internal production numbers for the Fisher body plant.

Thanks from one Steve C. to another. My mistake, I meant saddle. I'm just wondering if those other numbers tie in to any documents or options or anything else.

They might be Freemont specific codes that are lost to history. Not used on Flints

They match the numbers in the upper right of my build sheet! Do you know if anyone has researched this relationship before?

I have a 71 also. I think those numbers you are talking about have nothing
to do with the way the car was built. Those are just some kind of sequence
    numbers by GM factories.

I think you are correct, at least for Fremont. Any chance you have a build sheet for your car? If so, I'd love to have you look at Box 24 and compare it to the numbers on your cowl tag (after the date code).

At least for Fremont, it appears that those cowl tag codes are related to that particular car; and are also used (along with the VIN and Fisher Body Number) on the build sheet.

    Thanks for your post.
