first off ,what are the correct tires on a 71 Stage1? Goodyear polyglass or the Firestone Wide Ovals?

second, did Buick offer a poverty dog dish/steel wheel in 71?

I`m thinking of going with the poly`s[either Goodyear or Firestones] on a set of 15x7 steel wheels for the FAST racing, and put a set of TA`s on my 15x7 Buick mags,
    thanks,Keith

    Hi Keith,
According to my documentation, my GS 4 speed came with 14" ralleys and Firestone wide ovals. I may be wrong but I thought 1970 was the last year for Polyglass tires. My car is a std 455 4 speed, if that makes a difference.
    P.S. 4 speeds are cool!

I`ve heard from a few people that the Goodyears were on the 70,and Firestones on a 71. Allthough all the lit from 71 shows Goodyears on the cars:Do No: .I know the Goodyears are repro`d in G60`s not the Firestones,F60 is the biggest Firestone that I found.

Anyone have an answer on the steel wheels/poverty caps??

    dog dish hubcaps

well i know that chevelles, lemans, cutlasses had dog dish caps + steel steel rims , up through the 70's . the same should apply for the a-bodies by buick . i remember a next door neighbour had a 73 century with dog dish hub caps .
my guess is that the rims were 14x5 or 14X5 1/2"

Doo Wop Where were you in '62?

On a 71 you could get a 14x6 with Poverty Caps and also a 15x7 with Poverty Caps. The 15x7s also came with a Trim Ring. Parts book (Group 5.000 Illustration 21) shows a Goodyear Polyglass on the 15x7. Can't verify what tire was actually used, maybe someone else can.

I had the Goodyear G60X15 Polyglas on my 72 when it was bought/ordered new . It was with the 15X7's. Buick did not offer the F60X15 Firestone on its cars. That was the Chevelle SS that had those from the factory.
