I recently rescued this 71 GS from the side of a garage where its been sitting for the last several years.Heres what I know or can deduce: serial # 43437Hxxxxxx It has stage 1 emblems that appear quite old,71 GS hood, tilt wheel, disc brakes, air,BBB shroud,BBB cross member, rear defogger,BBB drive shaft, upper control arm to frame braces, front sway bar, bucket seats, bumpers are good cores, fenders need patches or replaced, core support and rt inner fender rusted, quarters not bad, definately an easy repair, nice sport mirrors, real nice 15" ralley wheels, chrome is nice the black centers could use paint, and center caps, has a 70 SF 455 motor in it,real nice 70-71 air cleaner/ snorkle, trunk floor appears solid, floor pans look ok except driver area where its soft and could use a patch, needs head liner, wrong grill, one tail light cracked, the other nice, don't know if its a posi or the ratio. Is it a stage? I don't know, the #'s indicate it may be,or at least a 455 car. I would like to sell it as is complete, for $1650,which is a little more than I have in it ,especially after driving 14 hours with truck and trailer to get it. If I can't sell it whole I'll part it in the spring and get more than my asking price for it.I'd hate to do that to a potentially restorable car, particularly if its a stage. I have other pics I'll post gary
Please....Don't tell me that its Platinum mist...Or I might do something stupid like sell one of my projects and visit you...lol Pat
bob,Sorry,I should've mentioned.it has column shift,no console.I'd like to get it out of here before the end of feb,I can store it if I've got the money for it. gary
Gary, Can you post some interior and engine compartment pics? Will you also look at the steering linkage collar to see if it was a 350 or 455 car? Thanks.
Put me in line If For Some Strange Reason The Others Fall Through, Put Me In Line. I Would Bring Cash. Thanks Tim :tu:
And so you know...43437 can also be the vin for a 350 car...Some of the things to check out first is motor stamping, tranny and telltale signs of other BB specific parts.
Steve thats the first thing i'll be trying to determine once the car gets here, funny thing is the buckets without console, thats the combination your 71 had right? i have seen a few 71's with that combination..
Yep, my 71 had buckets without console. It also had a tilt wheel on it. It seemed to be setup as "non-sport" as it could be, yet it was also a non-AC car.
