looking at the 71 assembly manual it shows two clips holding the speedo cable in place to the lower portion of the bell housing. These clips are held in place by the two lower bell housing bolts. You know, I've often thought that those clips would be a good item for Mike Garrison to reproduce. You might want to post in the bench to see if there's enough interest for a repro to be made.
Jason, How tall are those clips? I may have someone here in NNJ that may be able to reproduce a set. (from the top without the point down to the bottom of the clip itself). Mike
I just made a couple of pieces out of 1/16 aluminum like in this 3D rendering. Loop a tie wrap through the two lower holes in each one and capture the speedo cable like that. Simple and cheap. Can even do it with plastic or anything rigid. If I remember correctly, the bolts for this are just for this. They don't need to be torqued or anything so material is unimportant.
