Does this look like an original 71 GS 4 spd console? The claim was that this console came out of an original 455 Stg 1 Car. Trying to work out a fair price for this part. Sorry the picture is all that I've actually seen. The console is actually three hours drive from me but goes with a lot of other parts from the same car, of which I have a lot of the parts, not the original car. The car was parted out and pieces went everywhere. Took me a while to track this console down. If it is an original GS console, what is it worth? What went in the hole that is closest to the dash? New to Buicks, much to learn. :Do No:

That piece is called a consolette in Buick speak.

It was the same from at least 68-72 except the upper hole could have had a tach in a cup pre 70. After 69 they had a tri shield emblem in a cup. Pre 70 they could have had a tri shield emblem in the hole as the tach was an option. After 69 the tach option was moved to the hood or the dash.

It value is condition dependent. It is pot metal and if pitted very expensive to repair.

It is, actually 68-72. One just sold on Ebay for some crazy price, $800.00 +, I sold a complete pretty decent one for $350.00. It was complete with the cup, tri-sheild emblem. Most I've seen are missing the two part ring for the shifter.

I'd say top and bottom, no pits, no cracks around $300.00 or so. Of course, I'd start much lower than that :Brow: If your buying it with a bunch of parts you'd get a better deal.

    Thanks for the info!

I had actually bought some of the other parts already from another owner. The car was parted out before I could get my hands on it. This consolette had been sold to a different guy and I tracked him down. Unfortunately, this is the only part that he has to sell. Although, he is selling a rusty 72 GS350 4 spd for $3800. http://anchorage.craigslist.org/car/188946611.html

Here is a picture showing the cup with the tri sheild. The tach was an option for 68-69 cars. This one sold for a crazy amount. Buy it cheep, paint it up, throw it on ebay, make a buck.

I wouldn't expect making this kind of money, I've watched these for awhile.

I have also watched these sell for about a year on Ebay and the record before this crazy 800.00 dollar one was about 650.00 but it had the tach and was in better shape,I guess I will never own one as this stuff is just way out of the common working mans reach.I was offered one yesterday with tach for 450.00 but even that is out of my range and if I do not buy it I will pass the guys name and email onto you guys here if you want.

Ask him to separate the two halves and send you good pictures of both sides of both pieces. I bought one and the base was pretty rough. Can't tell when it's in the car, though. And make sure the mounting studs for the boot ring are there (3) and the mounting tab for the tach bezel (2).

Seems around $600 is pretty standard for these on eBay.
