Of course it did - it's in WA. If you keep him on the phone any longer it would have turned into dust! That's what happens to cars out here.:Dou:

I think I just got another spot of rust on my Buick just in the time I typed this.:bla:

a trip around cul-de-sac does tht mean we will see it at the track this year

I hope so, but it has a long ways to go. It technically runs/drives, but it really needs a lot done with it before I put it on a track. I'm not going to put it out there to see what it can do with a trans that isn't going to be up to the task and a rear that's 30 yrs old with an open 2.56 gear.

I want it to be in race shape when it hits the track.

    Hey Steve,
If there is anything I can do to help let me know. I get a decent discount At randys ring & pinion and I know a good diff guy. I also have a resonable tranny guy. Glen

    Thanks Glen,
    Can you give me money???:Brow:
I've got some some different options regarding the rear. I've got a TH400 sitting on my workbench waiting to go to a friend of mine who used to work at Kirkland Transmission (own business now). So I've got things in mind for that area.

I've got a brand new gas tank and full braided line kits in -8 to plumb. I've got a brand new pickup at a friend's to be modified for 1/2" lines like he did with his high 10 sec Chevy II.

But before the fuel system is installed, I'm going to need to take it in to have the frame checked. I think it's bent slightly. Since I can drive it, I plan on taking it to a frame shop some time soon. I just want to do a few things first, like put in the ignition box and set the rev limiter low so I know guys at the frame shop won't mess up the motor revving it. I also have some stuff to do with Rick on it first too.

So there's lots of potential and I've already started accumulating parts for things to happen. But I'm waiting on things in a certain order that I can do before I get to the rear/trans/driveline. At that point it's mostly a $$$ issue.

I'll let you know if I need anything though. YOu don't happen to have a decent, driver-quality, front bench seat setup do you?

This car is being listed every day. At some point, it will likely come down to a reasonable price. If it runs/drives well, it shouldn't be too far off. I paid $5500 for my GS455 back in 1997 or so and it was nicer but needed about as much work. I think somewhere around $5000 or so it may be good to go, assuming it really is numbers matching. Unless it's a Canada car, the 12 bolt can't be original though.

I thought I remember in one of his first listings that the tranny didn't have reverse? Don't see it in the ad now though.

yep, here was a previous version, he must have just fixed the tranny. Maybe that is what caused the car to rust in the more recent ads, as it didn't have that before.

Today's ad ended up being pulled.
Still, I think it has potential for the right price, unless the rust is much worse than assumed. I expect it to be like the average GS from this area, which my 71 was. If the motor is in good driver shape and #'s matching, and the trans just needs a rebuild, then it seems like it isn't too far away from a price that will take it.

He's obviously in a hurry to sell. Too bad I'm not sitting on a bunch of 62 Catalina parts he could use!

$5000 is the over/under price that I predict.

I wonder if it now has reverse? I'm sure he didn't spend money to get it fixed and then dropped the price (without mentioning a rebuilt trans). Too bad he doesn't have shots of the engine and more substantial shots of the interior and trunk.

At the current price I'm not interested, so I'm not going to bother emailing for more photos.

I have alot of catalina parts I could trade to the guy. but after talking to him He wants a big block chev or big block pontiac and tranny to put in his catalina. I offered to have a 455 pontiac built for him and a tranny. He wanted that and money. The more pictures He shows the rustier the car gets.

Aberdeen Wa. is notorious for rust. I lived in Elma for years and cars would rust sitting in my shop:blast:

As much as cars rust in WA, I'm amazed at those east coast cars and how much they get over the years! I guess it's the salting of the roads that we don't do out here that leaves it all up to rain and humidity only.
