Low compression short block. Plus rust has eaten through the door sills so the bottom side is likely a mess.

What do you say about the seat covers? Replaced by 25K miles??

Also I ask you to consider whether the pedal wear is consistent with the claimed mileage. By 25K the factory exhaust had been replaced?? Floor pans are not shown but represented to be good while the door sills are rotted from the bottom up?? Those are lumps and bumps under the vinyl top but they are not worthy of a close up shot while he claims to show all the troubled areas?? By 25K you had worn out your door handles so you swap in some from a Pontiac??:puzzled:

The hood appears wrinkled from a front end event which probably explains the new bumper off the car. Non 1970 radiator with the incorrect filler neck and tag by 25K miles??? Perhaps the original was hurt in the same front in event?

This car may once again illustrate the principle that it is cheaper to buy one finished.

What happened to the original seats? Those are out of an Olds. It appears this car has had a tough life and poor storage. And although this would be a beautiful car when restored, proper restorations are very expensive. I agree with Jim, it would be much cheaper to buy one already finished.

    25K miles?.. I think it's missing a 1 there.. as in 125K miles..

Also, I chuckled about how he posted pics of part numbers, but didn't happen to mention the Holley carb on it. And all the engine pictures were taken with the air cleaner on.

You can see the Holley in one pic he took of the fender.

I saw that. The original carb being MIA is worth 1K at least.

Are they even Buick seat covers? They look like Olds seats.

It is a 4 speed Stage 1 Coupe from 1970. I hardly think it's worthless.:)

Depends on how much it sells for, doesn't it? I have seen people pay a few grand for a beater GS 350 with the stick stuff intact, isn't the 1970 4 speed big block stuff worth more than that? thumb Groove 16 inch sport wheel, dash tach, console plus quite a few parts. The seats are obviously from an olds but could be recovered easy enough.

I agree with you guys on the point that it will not ever be a show car considering where it is starting unless you have some serious disposable income or an awesome set of tools, but I think it is far from hopeless depending on what kind of money you are talking at the final bell.

What the owner really wants becomes the key point here.

Chris I agree that it has value for parts. But in today's depressed market does it have value as a resto project given the alternative of buying comparable finished cars? (I would like to stay away from the emotional issue of whether it needs to be saved since it was sold as a 70 stage 1.)

I agree with you on depressed prices. If I was dropping a car off at a shop to be restored to show condition, no way. Buy one done--especially the older restorations. I have seen plenty of cars that are great drivers now that use to be show cars but are now at a great price because of the economy. That is a good way if you can afford to do it!

If I wanted a Stage 1 4speed driver maybe yes depending on how rusty it really is underneath and how much of the work I could do myself.

But I know what you are saying--Every car is worse when you dig into it, and with prices of nicer stuff better the risk of the rusty one is greater.

Wow, you guys are brutal!

That car belongs to my husband. He's had it about three weeks. The relatives of the (now deceased) owner wanted it gone...so he drug it home. Since everyone seems to be making an issue of the mileage, I wanted to jump in here to point out he has made no claims that the car has 25k actual miles. eBay has a required field for mileage...and that's what the odometer says. Doesn't say 125, or 225, or 525. Could be any of those. Point being, he doesn't know how many miles it has and made no claims as such in the description.

Yes, it has issues. Yes it has the wrong seat covers, and pedals, and carb...all kinds of stuff. Are there expensive parts missing...yes. Are there expensive parts there...yes. Since it has been brought to my attention, I will see that he gets photos of the floors and undercarriage added. He is not trying to hide anything. It's a 70 Stage One 4-Speed GS...Maybe it's worthless...Maybe it's worth something...thats why its on eBay to find out. :pp

    Carry on....

Way to chime in J! it's a 70 Stage 1 4-speed car so it's worth the $, and don't we all want one of those?

who cares of the condition, who cares what parts are there or not - someone will buy it, and hopefully save it! :3gears:

Imagine the fun! My son is 6 and loves being in the garage with me wrenching away (in a safe way of course) ah the memmories.

anyhow - relax guys. do some research, go look at it, then decide!:Smarty: Definitly a 10 year resto project for me though!

I just bid $4000 on it and the reserve wasn't met....no surprise! I thought the Ford truck interior pieces in the pic of the chrome trim was worth the $ alone:bla:
