    Greetings,
Have a 70 Lark, having some top issues. Top has been going up/down fine; put it down the other day with no issues however when I try to put up up it moves about an inch and stops. I can hear the motor working and it is trying to move the top. Was wondering if it is somehow binding? Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

Remove the back seat cushions, top off the fluid in the pump, bleed the air and check for leaks.

    what he said!!!

And while you're there.... check for leaks all the way to the cylinders.

The lines can get brittle and crack.

Thanks for all the info. I tried to bleed the system as per the Fisher manual but know luck. Top went down del slow, but will not go up without help and even then it is difficult. The motor appears to be running. Also did not notice any fluid in the lines, except for a very little bit when I lower the top. I looked around for leaks but did not see any, I'll try to dig a bit further. Could it be the pump is not putting out enough pressure?

here's a tip - if you find the original pump is DOA

Go to the junk yard and get a pump out of a Chrysler lebaron convertible.

Hooks up with the same two wires, although the harness is different so grab a section of the harness from the Lebaron too Then you can splice the pigtail from the old pump onto the new one. do a neat job with some heat shrink and not have to cut your factory wires in the car.

    Here, they'll run about $12 at a u-pull yard.

Swap the reservoirs, and the new pump will mount exactly like the original. Lines hook up the same way too.
You could even grab the lines from the lebaron and have newer lines

Fill with fluid, cycle the top, and fil with fluid again.
