70 rear taillights?

Hi all. I've seen the new 1970 Skylark/GS repo rear taillights on ebay for sale from The Parts Place. Has anyone seen these or bought them. Just wondering about the quality of them. The price is definitely better than the NOS ones. I need to get a set for my 70 Skylark.

I could be wrong, but I don't think those are repos. As far as I know, Alan Faircloth is the only one reproducing these lenses and he hasn't finished production yet to the best of my knowledge. I think that his price per pair was going to be $220 or so anyway, so I'm not making any connections here. My best bet would be that those are original lenses. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

I agree with Chris. No mention is made that they are reproductions.

    Maybe they're NOS :Brow:

Well, if they are NOS, then thats a REALLY good price. I've seen the NOS ones go for 400 smackers before on Ebay, which is out of my price range. They are advertizing them as new so I don't know whats up with that. The Parts Place(located here in Chicago) is a prety big dealer, so I don't think they would be falsely advertizing them. Never know though.

I'm with Chris, I don't belive those are the repro's.
Not a bad price for NOS. if the they stay at the 169.00 price?

Well, he doesn't mention that they are NOS, which I'm sure he would have if they were. NOS is the best condition something can possibly be, so if there is a way to list it as NOS they sure would have. If he says "New" like he does in the description, then by that he could mean in "like new condition" which would be what I bet they are. Here again I could be wrong, but I'd say they are just nice original lenses.

Is it possible that they are the new repo ones coming out. Maybe Al in Atlanta isn't the only person that can get them. I know that if I was manufacturing them that I'd like as many different places(Year One, OPG etc.) to sell them as possible.

My understanding is that Al is working directly with the company producing them, and that he funded the project. Because he funded the project and commissioned the company to produce them, I believe he will become the distributor of the parts. So Al himself will probably sell to Y1, Poston, etc. I could be wrong, but I don't believe that anyone else will get Al's parts before he gets them and can fill his own pre-orders.

    Thanks Bob for the link..

Don't know if I would want to spend that much for one..mine has a couple of cracks in the reflector section. I guess I can live with it to I find a decent one.

I guess I will keep looking for a good used one.

    what gives.....

I'm not an "EXPERT" but I feel pretty sure my car is original and it does not have a yellow section in the tail light lens like the ones in the picture on EBAY... Is that maybe just a trick of light or has someone maybe unearthed a cache of "european spec" tail light lenses???

    Curious minds want to know....

    regards

    brblx clueless

if it sits on a car in a garage it'll probably come out in better shape then something stuck under a pile of boxes in some random back corner of a room. i've sure seen some crappy 'NOS' stuff go on ebay...(not to be picky, i'm just clarifying that NOS seems to not always exactly mean perfect)

What does "European spec" mean? I used to live in Chicago myself, and bought quite a bit of stuff from the parts place. The parts they sold to me would allways be like they described. Would be very surprised if something fishy was going on with these tail lights. However, I must say that it has been several years since I dealt with them, so maybe things have changed for the worst. Also, I believe they are selling 2 tail lights for that price.

The "euro spec" tail light comment was just an attempt at humor. If any of you took the tour at the Corvette plant in Bowling Green you might have seen the "euro spec" Vettes on the line, they were easy to spot due to the tail lights that among other differences had a small yellow area...

Am I the only one that sees the yellow in the picture on ebay?
