I am sure it is a nice car but from what is shown, including the yellow underbelly, it is hard to conceive of it winning the GS Nationals. It may have won but just a novice like myself can pick out many things that are not correct.

    header bolts

Yup, the header bolts are not located in the STG-2 location, opposite each other middle of port. DUH....boy is he gonna get alot of flack for advertising a STG-2 car.

I know this car. It was done by Dave Kleiner when he was the body shop mgr. for Hugh Richardson of Iowa. It was done in the mid 80's.I know the current owner also. I called him and told him the story and it not being a Stage 2- made the ad seem hoky- he diddn't care and that the dealers put the headers, intake and carb on them and called it a Stage 2. He peddles all kinds of muscle and old Chebbys. He doesn't know much on the muscle scene cars but is very smart on the Chebbys. If anyone wants more pics or info, I can get it.

I sent him an email asking for any kind of verification of it having the Stage 2 setup on it. We'll see what he comes back with.

This dealer sounds like the same dopes that came out of the woodwork during the last musclecar bubble in the late '80's. He probably knows a little about a lot of cars, but thinks he knows it all. Today, though, the potential buyers are far more well informed, and I think it makes these dips uncomfortable when they get caught at the limits of their knowledge. I know the type. Dan

The Hugh Richardson car was for sale at Bowling Green this year, owned by a guy from Florida. Does not look like the same car. The one in Bowling Green did not have the yellow under car. I could be wrong. :Do No:

That's exactly the same story I got on another one of these "Stage2" cars that doesn't have the heads. He believes that because it was a dealer add on you could pick and choose some or all of the upgrades. Anybody know anything definitive on that?

    Which cam does it have?

what would you pay to have it in your stable?

OK, just for conversation sake.....we can see that it is not a STAGE 2 car as advertised, along with some unfortunate details (under side body color :Dou:, a stage2 decal, etc) BUT it is a pretty fine looking car that had a thoughtfulk resto (dated). Does anyone know if it a #'s GS car?

What is the car worth, take the dealer out of the equation. If it were here on the board, what would you pay to have it in your stable? A concourse event may not the the correct forum for that car, but, I would not kick it out of my garage

My understanding is the same based on talking with some Buick City folks in the mid '80's. I knew a Buick employee who purchased a stage 2 cam and valvetrain from a dealer (McNally in Flushing?) and installed the parts on a '70 455 for his son in the early '70's.

Since any or all of the Stage 2 parts could be ordered over the counter, really the only way to verify them as "dealer installed" would be to have original copies of the parts and labor invoices from the work done. If I had that kind of documentation to go along with a car for sale, I'd sure as heck be waving that flag in big bold colors. I'll bet none of this type of paperwork will be seen for this car.

I believe his asking price is equivalent to or greater than the most Franklins any non 4 speed X has brought in the private or public market no matter how good the car was. It is not that caliber of car such that it can compete price wise with say the GS Xtacy. My friend here in NC Tom Baker offered his X car at 120K for several months with no takers. It is a much nice car and likewise a 70 Saturn yellow auto stage one.

So I would cut a wide path and say it is in the 60-80K range if no big issues are lurking. ( Which is about 50% of his asking price.) Also a resto is at its peak the second it is finished. This one is 20 years old and just the chance it was painted lacquer means it may need a 5-10k paint job on the top side in addition to straighting out the bottom side. Having been there it will be tough to get the bottom side really where it needs to be without taking it back off the frame. There goes another 10-20K.
