Anyone know anything about this car? http://www.goldenclassics.com/cgi/d...ble&photodirectory=2071&thumbnail_url=L09.JPG Looks pretty nice from the pics. Interesting Ram Air setup. I want to build a GSX vert as a project but this is more than I want to spend. Just thought I'd put it out there for anyone else.
>>That ram air setup looks like the one that Poston sells. I actually gave it some thought but I figured you would have to relocate the battery to the trunk to make room for the foil hose - I guess not according to the pic in the auction. Anyone here running this ram air set up - what are the good and bad points?
I was running that same set up from Poston on my clone till I changed it to the factory R/A set up. If you have the stock spoiler baffle to keep the air where it belongs it does pick up a tenth or so in the quarter. Even marginally compressed air that is below ambient air temp (since it's coming basically off the ground and should in theory be lower in temp than the hood air)will see a gain in HP. The exception to that is on very hot days where the pavement might actually be hotter. It was a Pain in the hiney to route the tubing especially with air. I basically couldn't run the air while it was set up because it would rub the hose. All in all it would make a really nice set up for street/strip cars w/o air. I had no problems when caught out in the rain either.
>>Thanks for the info Eddie. I have A/C in my car so I think I will be staying with the factory R/A set up that I have in the car now.
for 33.5K I would expect a little better attempt to clone than the Skylark grill blacked out w/ a aftermarket emblem. That thing has been for sale on ebay off and on for quite a long time now
