Guessing you Miami guys (and you know who you are) may know something about this one that Jesse has for sale? http://adcache.collectorcartraderonline.com/10/7/5/81836275.htm 1970 BUICK, GS, Stage 1, 455 engine, auto, ac, power steering, power windows, p/disc brake, factory tach and gauges, power windows, super paint and interior, nom, must see this rare muscle car, calendar car 2005, price to sell, $21, 500, info 305-992-3533.
Nice...looks like another Aquamist Stage 1 From the daily car reports...only 103 Flint produced big block hardtops were painted Aquamist. How many of those were Stage 1s - Not many
Jason, My uncle had a '70 Stage 1 Aquamist, White painted top, White bucket interior. He purchased it new. Too bad it still wasn't around. He wants to drive mine, I say no way. He couldn't keep a motor together in his. It's amazing how many motors(Stage 1's at that) you can get replaced while the car is under warranty. I think it was like 6 or 7 times the dealership replaced his untill the salesman went for a ride with him. The dealership wrote him off after that ride. Thats another story though. Well, there's 3 Aquamist Stage 1's accounted for.
Aqua Mist Stage 1 I also have a Aqua Mist Stage 1 car. Agua Mist , Black top, Black buckets, disc, Tach/gauges, A/C, tilt, 100% matching number, Roberts documented. Always wondered how many had been produced in this rare color. I quess the the answer is not many.
I just called the guy, as for now he doesn't have the docs on it. Supposedly he's contacting sloan next week and getting them. I asked him how nice the car was, and his responce is that it's like it is in the picture. I asked him if it was restored, and he said it was a nice car that isn't concours but weekend show worthy. He mentioned something about the car coming from michigan, I assume that's where he bought it. Until he gets some proof it's a stage and someone runs over the car with a fine tooth comb, I'd be a little cautious. He certainly wasn't going to flood me with any info on it, I'm never too keen on sellers like that.
Willing to help out If anyone has a real interest in the car i would be more than happy to go and check it out. Just let me know. Juan
My Aqua Mist Stage 1 with white vinyl top and interior is as doc'd as they get and 60k doc'd original miles.
I believe the car in question is NOM which means non original motor. If that is the case it probably is not an original. A true 70 GS 455 stage I would be asking a considerably higher price. Just a thought.
I dont think you can make a judgement like that based solely on the fact that its "too cheap" to be a real Stage 1. The fact that its not the original engine does hurt the value of the car quite a bit especially if the correct carb and distributor are missing too. We've seen those two items alone sell for signifigant amounts of money recently.
It may take a while to get the sloan info also. Took me over a month. Andy who did most of the research has left, and they have part time volunteers trying to figure it all out. Tony
Hi Ron - Please consider registering your cars, and please let me know if you have any questions/concerns. Thanks!
I am still kicking myself for passing up your car when you offered to sell it to me about 5-6 years ago. :ball: ou: :ball: It is probably the most original one of it kind, not counting all the history & doc that you have. :TU: Gary Mitchell
Gary - must either be another car or Brian Albrecht you are thinking of ... because he owned the car before me. The originality aspect fits though ... it is a phenomenal car.
Not unusual for the original mill to be long gone on these cars..... Mine had a '71 block in it and yet the numbers matching BB trans is still there...(plus the Flint build sheet, yay) Lots of questions on this car for sale, is it Flint built on down.... unless its an early '70 production car Sloan won't have the info anyway unless something has changed for the better and I missed it..........
