PROBLEM..... My 1970 GS 455 has lots of horses at low speeds, but if I punch it, then sometimes it will backfire, but it will almost always die. Any ideas on what the problem may be?

Sounds like a carb problem. Time for a rebuild!!:Brow:

    check for air leak

you may have a vacuum leak at the base of the carb or something like that. my 2bbl seemed to do the same so i figured i'd rebuild it.

instead i put a 4bbl on. when pulling the 2bbl off the intake i found out I could have pulled the bolts out with my fingers.

    :Dou:

    well atleast i have a 4bbl now:Brow:
