Fingers crossed this deal goes through, Johnny. I enjoyed our day out to check out the GS Stage 1 4-speed. And, I hope to get a picture of the black GS alongside my 1986 Grand National. I think I could take you in the 1/4 mile - I'll even remount my factory Goodyear P 215/65 R15s to make the race even since you will be running the old Goodyear Polyglas GT tires. Nando.
SS is there but there is space between the SS. is that common ? what does the 450 mean is that 450 stage ones off the line? Vin is stamped on the block also between spark plug 1 and 3 Muncie Vin matches too... whew picking up the car tomorrow johnny
Johnny that looks correct the SS is spaced apart on the 70 stage 1. The 450 is some kind of production number.
Nice. The SS spacing is common. The 450 is also correct. No, that's not what it means but that's all I can say about it.
couldn't fine the ON on the rear end but I'm not to worried about that. it was dirty and a little rusty. ill clean it up when i get it home. johnny
450 is the day built code and in this instance it is 85th day of 1970 (450 - 365 = 85). That is good date since this car has a 05D date on the trim tag. For comparison I have a '70 Stage 1 with a trim tag date code of 04A and the code stamped into the block is 368 which is 3rd day of 1970. here is a thread that discusses this date code: https://v8buick.com/index.php?threads/protect-o-plate-i-got-most-of-it-figured-out.237445/
proud owner car is in my garage now. wash her today. first wash in 6 years she was dirty when i got her.
well i finally got a chance to clean the car a little better. Snow here is melting fast and the roads are getting swept. Still need to buff the car but its starting to look nice. Changed my tires also didn't like the polyglas tires. what a difference in ride from bias ply to radial tires. dog does not get in the car in case your wondering. cheers
