My car has what appears to be a non original engine--it is a 455 (TA) code but has a 7040243--1970 Quadrajet for a 4spd car and my car is a 4spd albeit a 1970o No: Any ideas? Pete
Engine was replaced, but they put the original 4-speed carb on the 1971 motor. What is the date code on the carb and what is the 4-speed body build date?
Jim---I was just looking at the letters again---there is an "H" which is beside the T A --the T and A are identical in size and the H is noticeably largero No: I cant photograph it--just too tight to get in there. Pete
Appears the donor was a 71 Centurion or 71 Riv GS. It may be an HP engine with the big valves like a stage one.
It's an early 1970 carb - 220th day of 1969. What's the cowl build on your 'new' GS? It's the third line down, under the trim code. Should be two numbers and an alphabetic character. Sold the '72?
Marco - code is 01C. 72 has been consigned for sale. As soon as I find a replacement carb the 2209 will be sold--- probably on evil bay. I'm sure there are some early 70 4speed --STG 1s,GSXs etc cars looking for the correct carb. My engine is a NOM 71---was never looking for an all correct numbers car(4spd)---which is something I can't afford. Pete
