I am short two pieces for my 70 Stage 1 frame-off I am wrapping up. Does anyone have the shift bracket on the transmission ( TH400 ) that the cable hooks to? And, the trunion that goes into that bracket from the cable? Please PM me if you can help. Thanks! JKC
Mike Garrison at www.mrbuick.com makes the correct brkt. The trunion no one makes. If you have a used one or can borrow one, you can have a machinist make one from brass. Should take him long, maybe an hour to make that simple piece.
parts needed I have already spoke to Mike and he does not have the shifter lever. And, although I know I could go through the hassles of having a machine shop make the trunion, it seems like these are common enough that SOMEONE here ought have them kicking around. Anyone? JKC
JKC, You made an assumption! Those trunions are not common at all. Only Buick used that set-up and only on 68-72 Skylark. Cutlass, Chevelle, LeMans had fixed ends. So, you will have to have one made. The shifter cable is specific to Skylark/GS too and I think Frank McIntyre has this as one of his reproduction projects.
Come on Mike, that is such a simple piece. You can probably have them made for $5-10 each. We need the shift cables more than the trunions.
parts needed George, I am not assuming anything. I KNOW that they fit Skylark and GS from 68-72 and not any other A cars. They should still be rather common -- any Skylark or GS with floor shift has them -- Skylark and GS350, same parts. And, I don't need the cable -- only the trunion and the shifter lever that goes on the transmission..... and, thanks for posting the photo! JKC
parts needed Hey Mike, you told me when I called you that you don't have this piece. Man, you work fast!  OK, who's got the trunion now?!! JKC
I will take the trunion I have in to have it made today. I should have something to sell by mid January. I didnt hear the part about the lever only the trunion.
