'70 Electra fleet addition

Hello friends... I recently picked this up from a co-worker for $250. It's been garaged a fair amount, original except for nicely done recent dual-glasspack exhaust. Runs smooth, uses a little oil but no funny engine noises. Trans is leaking, probably from front seal. Brakes poor, hopefully just need bled but possibly cylinders or a master. Oh, and tread is peeled completely off right rear tire (but still holds air!) :3gears:

Needs a polish too. Plan is to fix it this summer and leave it where I travel for work for wheels there. It'll get driven several times a month.

It's good to finally join the Full-size club. Haven't driven one since I parted a Diplomat blue '70 Electra Limited basketcase in 1989. Also drove sisters' boyfriends '70 225 convert in the mid '80s, clacking lifters and all. White on red on red. Wonder what ever happened to that car...

Agreed. I'd be a fool to have passed on it. The car doesn't appear to have significant rust-- besides a bit in the battery tray. A well cared for survivor.

    Wow! $250.00?!
    Can't go wrong there.

Thanks Dale. That's what I told my better half. The pit- free '70 only tri-shield remote side mirror might be worth a good chunk of that. I add up potential part values (worst case scenario, don't worry Electra fans) and her non-verbal approval becomes apparent. :pp

$250 - Thats insane! :beers2: Its worth at least twice that in scrap metal. Demo derby guys would kill for that baby

Oh, man-- I'd cry if it wound up in a demo derby-- its too straight. But I figure someday it'll have a major failure or get hit and I'll have another 455 core and lots of parts for the members here! Meanwhile, hopefully the brakes and trans prove to be 'easy' fixes.....

    Thanks.

When the co-worker acquired this car several years ago, I told him to talk to me when it was time to sell... glad I did. His Wife asked him why that 'old car' sat in the garage when his new truck had to stay outside!!! Finally he relented, and just wanted it gone.

It's a good thing it was inside, seems to be leaking in the cowl and down over the e-brake/fuse box area like one of my Skylarks did. Gonna need to pull the fender and re-do the seam sealer on the cowl.... Hope that's the fix....
