    YELLOGSX ON THE ROAD AGAIN!

ANYONE KNOW IF 72 STUDS FOR THE GRILL ARE THE SAME FOR A 70? I BOUGHT A REPRO GRILL FROM CARS AND I NEVER SAW THE NEW STUDS. THEY SAID I GOT EM BUT I NEVER SAW EM....IT WAS A BIG ORDER AND THEY WERE COOL SO I DIDNT PRESS THE ISSUE, AND I NEVER HAD THE OLD ONES. SO I GOT SOME FROM A GUY WHO HAD A 72 SET BUT I DONT WANT TO PUT THEM IN FOR AN EXPERIMENT. ANY HELP?
    THANKS SCOTT

    scott:
i had a similar problem with cars. i ordered the rad cradle/body bushings & a pair of 71-72 wheel cap medallions. i received the bushings but not the medallions. argued back & forth, but eventually they relented & sent me the pair.

No the PARTS PLACE grille does not use original length center studs.
Try placing the grille in the core support and see how long the studs need to be.
The ORIGINAL grille used 4ea short studs and 2ea center studs 2 1/2" overall, 1.3/8" from the grille to the center support.

As a last resort you could cut the center mounts for the grille studs and use original length studs.

    I hope this helps.

Dave I did nbot know what kind of grille he has . I guess you know they sell TPP so the studs should come from them . If this were a GSCA grille I guess yours would work

Yes, John you are correct. My studs will work for an original grille or one from the GSCA. The grille from TPP used a shorter center stud, they made the mount longer which required a shorter stud. I dont know why someone goes to the trouble to reproduce something they don't research everything.

You can go to BuickPerformance.com and look at George's EXCELLENT INFO on the difference in the mounting area plastic for the studs...compares TPP's grille and a stocker. As is usual with his site....he has the solutions.:TU:
