Hi, As my title indicated, I have a rear sway bar on my stock 350 gs, My question. Is the rear sway bar standard on the gs model? Here's a pix of my build sheet. I appreciate all help. Mike
Yes, Larry is correct. You need to have RPO F41/ Sales order #H6 to get the rear bar. So the rear bar was added after the fact
Looks like a factory bar to me. Although its fitted to non boxed lower arms. A boxed arm has an insert that prevents the sway bar bolts from crushing the arm when tightened. So Im sure there is some sort of a spacer in there.
First - Welcome! Nice looking car! Post a pic of the inside of the arm, that is from the bottom. Show where the sway bar bolts go through. A boxed arm will firm up the ride a bit and give you the full benefit of the sway bar. Its a common upgrade if you don't have the F41 option.
Upside-down with a mirror, not factory but the bolts do have washer and spacer so it (sway bar) was installed properly, it's only a cruiser and if I can manage the drive, we're taking it to the Buick Nationals in Denver July 2018, of course it will be sitting on a trailer for the ride out.
You can buy the correct plates that weld on the lower control arms, will work much better and look a ton better. Muffler shop or anyone with a welder and basic welding ability can install them without removing them
yeah, how many people you think will look under the car. HaHaHa.....been on there 50 years, ca n stay while I own it.
Not trying to be argumentative, but at some point safety, comfort, and handling should override originality, on a driven car...otherwise why don't we all drive on bias ply tires and use points ignition in all our pre-76 cars? Heck, I'd be upgrading them to larger ones...one of the better bang for the buck mods for handling. I guess I prefer a mix of modern and original...my 2 Cents, lol!
Yup, the F41 option firms the ride and controls body roll. Take that bar off and you'll think you are in an Electra when you hang some corners.
