This car was for sale on ebay some time ago. I remember it because of the same sorry description about the "dealer installed" GSX package. I guess my 71 GS455 is a GSX also, the only difference is the GSX package was installed by Al Fiandaca.

I know it's only a stage 2, but my experimental 64 Skylark pre-production Grans Sport with the prototype aluminum head stage 2 455 deserves to be listed at B-J right next to another rare car like the Stage-4!

They'll really go nuts when they find out a 200-4R was around at that time too! I'm in the process or replacing the vacuum-tube driven EFI with a FAST unit; it's just too hard to find vacuum tubes these days. No, I don't have the tube controller anymore, I tossed it thinking no-one would ever want it anyway. The oil companies paid GM to withold that stuff ya know.

This guy would be a great practical joke to play on Dennis Manner.

I talked to George Toth at home today and he never sponsored a race car.He also told me that Ed was still in the Berea dealership in 70 and didn't open his dealership in Akron until 71 so it wasn't him either. Put your boots on as the crap's getting pretty deep on this one. Tom

In light of that info hip wadders may not get the job done. This may require a full body prophylatic.

Wonder if BJ (that's Barrett Jackson, not ...) is giving these away ... Full Body Condoms. They should.

Oh, this is so wrong ... in so many ways.

Jim,i wonder if you notified BJ as to the fraud on this car if they would do anything about it?Probley just blow you right off as to we are not liable as to what a seller claims. Tom

It would be best if the owner of the dealership in question called to indicate that he never sponsored such a car. But all the rest is hard to disprove from a distance. Things like it was a drag car, it makes 1200 hp, it is a KB Stage 4, the rebuild cost 60K, etc. are things a buyer should have the seller prove if they are buying in reliance of these representations.

I think most people who would be at BJ and interested in this car would buy it because it is an X car , if it is, and then put it back like it came. Its race history or lack thereof would not be something that would be important to me. If its alleged race history is not a reason in part for the purchase, there can be no detrimental relance of the representation of the race history. If you have no detrimental reliance on an untrue representation, the legal definition of fraud is not met.

I am guessing that the owner is playing to the crowd that bid 1 million on that Chevelle race car. Any claims should be documented or its just hot air. Oh yes I am keeping far from Scottsdale because the BS at BJ is getting deep.

    Its all just Heresay ...

... without track pictures and dated time slips showing its history with ways to attach that info to THIS vehicle

... without dated recepts from KB detailing the buildup and providing Dyno sheets with ways to attach that info to THIS motor

10:1 says when asked to provide this info he'll respond "Well, thats what the previous owner told me...":spank:

Gary, does Jerry Haberle ring a bell?It has to be his car as he states he was working for Buick when he bought it.I just got off the phone with the Service Mgr. at Toth Buick back in 1970 and he remembers the car and Jerry. The car is a real X according to Bill and Jerry was working in the body shop at Toth.At one time the car had a blower set up on it.As far as his other claims i wouldn't bet the farm. I never got a last name, the first may have been jerry but I'm not sure, sounds like his age would be about right from when he worked. He claimed it to be a real X but I never saw it in person,in fact the first time I met him he claimed to have a second X that was his wifes???

Spoke with G.T. Jr the other Night. Said he remembered "Jerry" repairing his Stage1 Demo, after it went in a Ditch back then, and Yes, he had an "X".
Then Talked with Skylarkwilly about it.
Again, Yes it was an "X", BUT No One had seen it Run, and the only time the car was seen, was at the Cleveland AutoRama, to Show.
Owners Mouth over ran the car, (and other parts of his anatomy), and he got Bill So PO'd, that Bill told him to "Bring it ON, I'll Spot You 3 & STILL Kick Your A**!!!!"
That was with "Red", the 64 455 car built in 79, so it had to have been in the Early 80s.
NO One has been able to Document the car as it is Listed. None of the Toth Family, nor ANYONE that was involved with the cars back then.

At BJ a car like that might just as easily bring 40-50K , 150K or somewhere in between. You never know. They never show you on TV all the disappointed people who lose their cars in a no reserve auction for a lot less than they hoped or had in it.
