70-71-72 headlight bezel/hood differences

Hi everyone, I've been looking at the differences between headlight bezels and hoods from 70-72 Skylarks. Having trouble finding confirmation to set me on the right path.

I'm looking at getting some bodywork/paint done and thinking about putting in some effort to track down 72 correct pieces. I believe I have a hood off a 71 with the 71 trim, and unsure what year the bezels are from (71 or 72?)... pics below, accidentally cut off the one bezel in the pic...

Is there much difference between 70/71/72 hood themselves? I know the hood trim itself varies by year and the 72 trim is easily identifiable. Can I put a 72 hood trim on any 70-72 hood?

How about the bezels, the 71 and 72 look very similar. 70s are clearly different.

    Appreciate any insight, thanks!

Looks like you have a 70 Skylark hood and 71 headlight bezels.70 Skylark hoods have a drop down section in the front where the moulding goes 71-72 hoods are smooth out to the moulding.70 hood moulding is all chrome,71 is chrome on the front edge and the rest is painted body color,72 moulding is about an inch and a half wide in the front and chrome on the bottom painted body color on the top. The 72 headlight bezel looks like the 71 but around the headlights they are black not chrome. Hope this helps.

This is a bit of an older thread but I'm trying to find parts for my '72 Skylark Custom "build" (not really stock so this isn't an originality/restorer question. I am curious though). One thing that's a bit of a mystery (I'll post up some photos tonight) is which bezel seems to fit which hood trim. I have one set of hood trim/headlight bezels that were on a '71. The '71 headlight bezels have some subtle differences to the ones that came on my '72. The '71 has narrower chrome strip on the edge of the headlight bezel than the '72 (the vertical piece that will "match" the hood trim). I currently don't have a '72 hood trim that matches my '72 headlight bezels. For my car, I don't mind using the '71 items but I'm curious to the differences.

'72 bezel on the bottom. '71 on the top with the matching '71 bezel. Both are from a Skylark Custom
