    Hello everyone,

I am a newbie and have been searching for this answer. I came across stage 1 heads for a 70 455 and was told that I would need to have a 70 455 engine to put them on since they cannot be used with any other year. Is this true or can I purchase any 455 from 70 to 76 and have no problems..

    Thanks,
    MUNDAY

look at the mounting surface. 1970 to 1974? have round water passanges and can `be bolting on without any problems at all.

I have heard that you can bolt one to another, but not the other way around.

the eairly blocks are round while the later blocks are oval.

I know it has been talked about on this site before.

you can use the 70 heads on all,but not the later, oval heads on early 70-74 blocks.

Be sure they are stage 1. I've had people try to sell me reg. 455 heads claiming they're stage 1. The casting numbers are the same. The valves should almost touch each other in a genuine stage 1 head.
Welcome to the greatest source of Buick info around.
