I've gone through a bunch of the old threads and am still not sure on this:

What is the ORIGINAL shifter body mechanism number for the Hurst Shifter 4 spd shifter on a '70 GS?

People mention #3138 but they also seem to say that "it will work" or "it's very close".

WHAT'S THE RIGHT SHIFTER BODY NUMBER ON AN ORIGINAL BUICK SHIFTER??

    Thanks

Not unless I have another view with it on it.

Someone ought to reproduce the 5335 handle as a bolt on unit. That way you can use a readily available aftermarket Hurst cometition Plus shifter mechanisms. Once the boot is in place, no one will be the wiser

OK--one more question. On the Olds application (70 console 4 spd) the 3138 is also used...but...the shifter handle receiver comes out of the top of the shifter mechanism and angles towards the driver side quite a bit. Does the "Buick 3138" handle receiver do the same??

Excellent...thank you very much. I had a buddy call me and tell me he was looking at a couple shifters and the guy that had them was telling him how the "angled" (ie Olds/Pontiac) 3138 was also correct for a Buick...which it is apparently not. I'll forward the info to him.

Again, thanks to everyone for the help and quick responses.

I'll try to have the guy take some pics....I know nothing about the shifters other than a buddy called me with some questions and he is in MICHIGAN. He is the one who is looking at the shifter and considering purchasing it. He wanted some clarification on this (the seller was telling him how the handle was the same for the GS, etc).

If he sends me any info/pics, I'll post it. Thanks

I have my shifter apart on the bench right now. Here are the numbers:
    Body: 3138
    Body rear: 2480
Sift levers: 4172, 7171 (not sure which is 1-2 and which is 3-4)
Reverse lever: ??99 (the first two numbers are hard to read. My best guess is 8699)
