I currently have a retrosound stereo with only front kick panel speakers.

I had my back seat off, and I saw the old speaker back there and I was thinking a pair of decent 6x9s may add some sound but I don't want to cut any metal. I was thinking of mounting them facing the seat (unlike the factory speaker) There's not a lot of room back there but I think may be possible.

Think a pair will fit? Maybe use a different size? Thoughts?

    thanks!

    Here's what I did:

If I just mounted one pair, I maybe could've done it without cutting metal. Don't know if yours is the same though.

If you get really fly and build triangle shaped boxed on top of a wood package shelf, facing forward, you for sure wouldn't have to cut into it. If you cut out some 6x9 rings to elevated the speaker you could maybe even have them pointing upwards. But being a convertible, you may want the drivers to fire forward...

That's pretty sweet but I've got a convertible.

Ive just got a single speaker that's literally behind the seat.

6x9's will fit no issues. Only thing is with the top down they are useless as top gets in the way. Top up sound good though. You have to watch the depth of the speakers ...too deep and they will hit the seat support.

I put 6 x 9's in my 'vert but I have them facing towards the trunk, I was concerned about clearance issues.

I did cut the metal a bit so I could bend the openings to accommodate the speakers, it's nothing major, you have to look close to see it.
