If you look on the floor boards, it says $20,000 OBO.

All "California", "Colorodo", and "Carolina" 69 GS's were based on the 2 door Post chasis ('68 leftovers, I've been told....).

This car doesn't look to be a post car......

Likewise, all of the "C" cars were Hi compression 350's.....this is a "400"

Id say someone living in California got creative with the badging on their "400"

As to it being a true Stage1......:Do No: :Do No:

A GS California was a low-buck version GS350 with limited options.

Both California GS and GS400 VINs were different. Stage1s were available with GS400s only.

    I would bet it's a clone.

    Interesting...

According to Ken's Buick GS California Page, all GS Californias (and Colorados for that matter) were TH350 transmissions.

Buyer Beware - looks like we've got a live one...:af:

    Hey snaperhead -

Is your '69 a factory Stage1? If so, want to register it?

I thought this line was quite amusing.

"There were only 415 of these cars made with a 4 speed transmission. "

Someone's gotta email this guy and raise the BS flag. If nobody wants to, I certainly will. :TU:

In fact, I may do it anyway. :Smarty:

    Hi,

You may or may not know this. But you've got your production numbers screwed up a little bit. Instead of 415 of these produced, it should say "zero". There were zero 69 California GS stage 1's produced.
There were a total of 3,574 California GS's produced in 69, all had 350's. Zero had 4 speeds. All had turbo 350's.

The number "415" actually refers to the number of GS400 Stage1 4speeds built in 69, not California GS's. You may want to adjust your description. I hope this clears up any confusion.

    StageTwo It's a Beauty Too.

    Ken:

Did you mean to post that last one on e-bay? While you're at it, didn't Buick use Muncie 4-speeds rather than Hurst? Come to think of it, did Hurst even build a transmission?!

Buick put Hurst shifters on the Muncie transmissions. This may not be true for all Muncies, but mine has one and all other 4-speed Muncies I've seen have the Hurst shifter.

Yes indeed I did email the person with those comments. As far as the Muncie having a 4 speed hurst, I wouldn't know, but the California didn't have em. At least not according to any documentation I've ever seen.

Got a reply back from him which said,

"I hope that you were bidding on the car instead of making any kind of comments that you have not reserched throughly but thanks for the inquiry"

    Geez, whatever man.

So I was kind of taken back, and I replied,

"Yes sir, I actually have queried many members and documentation generated by the Buick GS Club of America, of which I have been a member of since 1985. In fact, I own a 69 GS400. I assure you the research doesn't get any more thorough than that. You may research it yourself if you do not trust me. No, I was not bidding on it but felt since I know a great deal more about these cars than most people in the country, I would offer you a bit of information that you may not have been aware of. I'm sorry if you took it the wrong way, but if you are more interested in me bidding on it than you are in having the correct information in your auction, then I apologize. If you feel you do not wish to change the description, obviously that's your decision, however, most people who put auctions up on ebay are very receptive to input from people correcting errors in their listings. I don't quite understand why you were so hostile in your response, I actually thought I was helping, but I guess not.

    Have a nice day"

    vin numbers

I just sent the guy an e-mail requesting the vin numbers, stay tuned and we will see what it is, then I will ask for the code on the engine, any bets that it is an RS code??? :Brow:

    Re: vin numbers

Me too. I sent a request last night around 10pm and this morning I had no mail.

At a minimum, the VIN alone will at least solve the GS400/GS California debate.

    Ken -
Good note. You try to do the right thing, and the guy slams you. You can lead a horse to water...

If i was feeling Fiesty......I'd High Bid and win the auction and then get out of it becuase it was falsely advertised:Brow: That'll teach him to phock with us '69ers

The day's young....maybe something at work will piss me off yet:laugh:

The wording in the ad appears to have been changed. If you check the revision list, there have been a few. They must have all happened prior to the first bid, since they aren't "updates" but actual changes.

    He also dropped the reserve.

  17. Ken Mild

Ken Mild King of 18 Year Resto's

    Yeah, but it still says:

"This car in not a clone. Has a 400 big block, with a hurst 4-speed, eldebrock carborator and intake. Car has been restored from the frame up. Exterior and interior is in mint condition. There were only 415 of these cars made with a 4 speed transmission. For more info please email me at lo2go@yahoo.com "

....which is BS. So he is still falsely advertising.

Alan had a great idea about bidding on it. That would be hilarious. Dude, get pissed.

    :blast:

    ....Forehand Volley? :beer

Did you put that in the email? :Dou:

  20. Ken Mild

Ken Mild King of 18 Year Resto's

    Here's his reply.

"Thank's for the info this is the vin# you can decide for yourself if it is what I say it is or not 446379H343631"

Obviously it is NOT!! The first five digits say GS400.

Notice he says I can "decide for myself". Obviously he has no intentions of accurately portraying it in his auction. I should report him to ebay. This is fraud. What do you guys think??
