Car is at a small local old car dealer here. He doesn't deal in big dollar stuff, most of his cars are in the $3k-$7k range. Seems to pick 'em up cheap, do a little fixin' up, and resell. In this case, I don't believe he's touched the car at all, and is selling it as he got it. I've stopped by his lot many times in the past few years, and visited with him quite a bit.

Ok, here's the good stuff: Car appears to be in original unrestored condition, mileage about 64k. The interior would seem to back up the mileage, it is in very good shape overall. The dash is darn near perfect, as is the headliner, and instrument panel. Carpet looks old, but is in decent shape. Cloth seats have a couple small tears, nothing major. The bumpers are EXCELLENT! And has a proper 69 rear bumper. Rear taillights look real good, as does the grille, and the surround looks to be pit-free and straight. Headlight buckets are also excellent, with no pitting. All the glass looked very nice. There is a ton of documentation in the glove box. Protecto Plate, owners manual, maintenance records, some dealer documents. Supposed to be only 2 prior owners. Car was sold at Stephens Buick in Minneapolis MN, and the 2nd owner only had the car the last 2-3 yrs.

And the bad: There are clearly some rust issues, some in the trunk, quarters, core support, the usual places. Has a vinyl top, and OBVIOUS issues underneath it, real bumpy all over the roof top. It is also pealing away at the lower rear trim. Paint looks original, and shows it's age. Rear package tray is stained from water leaking in. The engine compartment needs a thorough cleaning. A couple oddities there, I think... It is a 350-2, and looks like original 350-2 sticker on the air cleaner. I thought all Skylark CUSTOMS got the 350-4? I could be wrong. Also, the washer bottle is mounted pretty much directly across from the carb location, on the inner fender, next to the exhaust manifolds. Is that right on a 69??? Weird, because there are 2 dimples on that inner fender where I'm sure the mounting screws are supposed to go, on the forward end of the fender. The bottle is 68/69 correct, but I can't believe it belongs where it is mounted. BTW, those 2 dimples are not drilled out, there's never been a tank mounted there on this car. Not sure what to think of that.

Ok, I did not drive it or hear it run, but he said it runs great. I told him I may come back for a test drive if someone had a serious interest in it, and get some more pictures than he has on his website, Dave's Classics

Let's see what else did I notice... Ok, NO passenger side mirror. Driver side is a manual, not remote. AM radio. Non-air. Power drum brakes. Single exhaust. Again, the bumpers and headlight buckets, grille and surround, are excellent. Hub caps looked very good also. This car would make a fair driver if it runs well, but the rust is a significant issue as far as doing a resto... I did not take a look underneath, nor in the trunk, but I believe he said there was a small hole on the drive side of the trunk floor.

If someone has a serious interest in this car, please contact the dealer to discuss it. 701-293-9798. It is listed at $3450, he told me it would go to a $3000 offer, and he says he's turned down $2800. There are 3 pics on his website, and I would be willing to take more for a serious party, and maybe test drive it, but not til after you talk to the dealer first. By the way, tell him I sent you... :3gears:

Skylark Customs base engine was the 350-2. What set the drive train different was the base automatic was the brand new TH350 as opposed to the ST300 offered on Special/Skylarks with the 350-2 option. :Smarty:

Alan, I figured you would have the answer to the 2bbl issue. Maybe I was thinking of the Cali that was a 350-4 std. Hey, how about the WW tank mounting? Isn't that weird? .

And another thing, it has rear defrost, with 2 outlets spread apart a foot or so. Is that correct, or maybe it's aftermarket? I'm thinking it's not original, because there is a distinctly non-original, ugly, switch mounted under the dash to run the defrost. Maybe after it was sold in Mpls MN, the owner realized he was going to need rear defrost in these upper midwest winters.

Yeah ... like it does SOOoooo much anyway  I went through 5 buffalo winters with a '69 Sky w/ rear defrost ... blowing 10 Degree air on the window really makes a huge difference :Dou:

The only thing I can think of with the windsield jug is - mebbe they ran out of hose and said "Hmmm....just drill the holes Here until Frank comes back with the new reel

:Do No: Pretty thin.... but :Do No:
