69 GS Flip open Trunk emblem

Guys looking for a spring for the flip open GS trunk emblem or a pitted up emblem with a good spring. To assemble my GM Emblem. Picture for information. Tony

 

I had to replace mine last year. I think CARS has them.

 

Just the spring?

I bought a reproduction a while back and the spring was very cheaply made and broke. I had to use the spring out of my factory pitted-up emblem which is much better.

I was about to say.. Tony, you're better off finding a heavily pitted truck lock with the original spring, and an NOS (if you already don't have it) GS cover. As Herman stated, the repro springs are thin and poorly made. The repro GS emblem is cast with a lower grade of metal and breaks easily with an original spring.

 

I can attest to this statement.

I can't believe the one on Ebay brought $80

 

Timing is everything. I put bid on it. Only because my repo pooped out. I still have OG found in my trunk.. Another 80 bucks wasn't worth it to me .

 

Dave- the people that know the repro SUCKS, know what they have to do. $80 is quite a bit to part with... as those of us who know the 69's know how tough it is to find an NOS base, GS plate, and correct spring..

 

Still looking for an original spring if anyone can help.
