Was the Electra 225 available in '69 & '70 as a convertible? I saw a pristine example going today in traffic, just not sure of the year. :TU: I would guess '70. Noticed the "Electra" tag & slightly below & to the rear the "225" tag on the lower rear quarters. Looked like a triple black car with the top down.

Yes, the Electra was available as convertible in 1969 and 1970, but only in the Custom -serie. Meaning that most power options was standard.
1970 was the last year for the Electra conv, from 1971 the "fullsize" conv. was replaced by the Centurion conv. 6045 pc Electra conv. was built and just over 8000 in 1969.

Saw it again on Saturday. No time to stop & look. Turns out it belongs to a friend of a friend. I'll ask him about it & I'm sure I'll get a close up look. Original 455 has been rebuilt which indicates it must be a '70?
So loooooong & so straight. Beautiful car.

1970 was the first year for the 455 (1970-76), so there should be an 455 under the hood followed by the dependable TH400 auto trans :TU:
1970 was the year the 455 had most horsepower and 10:1 comp. :3gears: From -71 both the horsepower and comp. decreased. In 1976 the hp was just a bit over 200.
If you want to see photos of some Electra 225's, check following site: www.electra225.com There also photos of some of my previous Electra's there, but not the Estate Wagon.

Just some FAST ways to tell if it's a 69 or 70....

    69:

Electra badging is in script on rear quarters and trunk lid.
Front side marker is on the top half of the fenders.
The trunk lock has a Buick Shield 'flip'
Portholes are above the fender trim.

    70:

    Electra badging is in Block.
Port holes are below the fender trim.
Front side marker is lower, near the chrome trim.

If you can see the front bumper...that's the giveaway, but once I looked at a 70 Deuce 'vert that had a 69 front end on it. :Dou: Too bad, as it was in nice shape, but I wanted my '70 to look like a 70!

....and the 70 Electra has back up lights abow the rear tail lights (end of rear fenders) and the rear taillights are different from 69 to 70 Electra. For 1969 the back up lights are included in the taillamp.

Front side marker lights (yellow) is small (almost square) and rather high placed on the -69 and they're bigger (rectangular) and placed just abow the bottom molding on the 70. Also the hood and front fenders is different.
This is the same for all LeSabre / Wildcat / Electra 1969 - 70.
