Time to check the fuel filter and chances are to get a carb rebuild. Also check for vacuum leaks. You need an old pro mechanic to do this. Burned and closed points can also cause these symptoms. Get a tune up so you know your baseline for potential causes.

Thanks for the insight...I was thinking about putting a new distributor on...my last tune up was in January...I replaced points, wires, plugs, distributor cap, rotor cap, fuel filter on carb...a few weeks later I put on a fuel pump....after replacing fuel pump, the 225 was riding fine, but not what I was accustomed to...I just was trouble shooting with a fellow classic car enthusiast and a gentlemen bet followed that it was something electrical....Idk...so anyone tht have any info r possible solutions, please rely and ur thoughts r greatly appreciated...Thanks...

    Thanks Flynbuick

It is always a good idea to include anything you have done to try and resolve the problem. It gives us more to work with, and you get an answer faster. My impression is it sounds like a fuel problem. Since you have replaced the fuel pump, and filter, it may be a problem back near the tank, or along the way. Inspect the fuel line from the tank forward. look for any crimps or leaks in the metal line. Carefully inspect ALL the rubber line, near the tank, and near the fuel pump. If you bend the line around your finger, and see cracks in the rubber, replace it. If you don't find anything, drop the tank and inspect the sender, and filter sock. The filter sock can clog or collapse and cause a problem.

Well forum, thanks for all replies...the problem was electrical. Distributor wire connected to the condensor in the point assembly was hanging on by a thread. The wire came apart from the wire fitting n there was very minimal contact. Took the fitting off, put the wire between bolt n contact spot n bn running as usual.Got a new distributor n will put it on Friday. Also I will drop tank, check hoses, check sending unit and have carb rebuilt...fire, gas, combustion..any thoughts r knowledge r greatly appreciated. Thanks.
