I was Leaving my girlfriends house this evening, picked up some school work, (currently taking a break from my paper due tomorrow to share my run with the mopar :Comp: :Smarty:  ) and I turn onto a main street, two lanes in each direction with a divider with trees down the middle. I'm cruising at around 15mph and ahead I see a small toyota coralla come out of the next street with a Dark cherry Red Charger, probably 06, with Big chrome rims right on it's tail, Now i've seen this Charger around my neighborhood before speeding around and I don't like it when people are on my tail like that so I decide to give him some of his own medicine. The Charger notices the rumble of my car and gets on the gas and goes around the toyota, at the same time, I get on the throttle and the the Rivi gains speed quickly, Secondaries open a bit late but I still manage to close on his tail all you can hear was the growl of the 455 and the new magnaflow mufflers/ exhaust as I begin to close in on him, You can tell he's mashing his throttle but the Rivi effortlessly keeps up. I see the guy look up at his mirror, I can only imagine what he saw, the Rivi's headlights getting closer and closer as he stepped on the gas. I thought the Charger was going to leave me far behind but I was surprised the Rivi kept up so nicely, As I passed him to turn onto the expressway, they guy turned the other way :bla: :beers2: :moonu:

Imagine my black primed 68 Riviera, with a silver top with glue (since I took the viyl top off to repair, driving off with those menacing rear taillights glowing, hahaha my car looks crappy now but a bit of more love will make it look more worthy to these guys with their candy paint and big rims. My friends and girl call it the batmobile haha

Well I thought I's share this one, not necessarily a kill but a nice chase, Gave a new charger a run for it's money

Sounds pretty good to me. Maybe the Charger will think twice before picking on everyone again. Probably not, but we can always hope.

You made a bold yet unexpected statement, that I'm sure the Charger heard loud and clear :TU:

Was it the V6 or R/T?

No matter it's appearance, a '68 Riv will always look better than a newer Charger.

At least in my eyes. :bglasses:

Those V6s are surpsignly quick for a fullsize 4200 lb car with only a 250 horse V6. My roommate has an 08 V6. The hemis are pretty sick though

Good run, maybe he'll think twice next time...

Yup, My girlfriend's sister has a black with silver stripes 08 Challenger SRT, and I got to test it out once on a food run:3gears: Too bad it's an automatic, the thing can move pretty easily, I still like these cars, but I can't love em more than Buicks/ most underrated

Iv'e been looking for a cheap skylark to drop the riv's 455 in and make a GS clone. I want to finish the Riv, but it's a bit too much for me in it's condition, being a college student doesn't help much. So I was thinking about selling it and getting a Buick Gs Or a skylark, 4 speed.

I love this Riv though, just not enough funds to get it back to it's old glory. I'm still trying as I can, I actually received this car for free, while gardening @ 12 years old and picked up a 455 since and got it running with other small necessary mods, Mostly paid for by myself, that's why it will be hard for me to sell, but I'd rather have someone who loves Buicks, with the available funds, save it

Sry for the Rant just threw it out there

Cool project and cool kill story! Go 455! Do you have any video's of your car running with that magnaflow exhaust? I wouldn't mind hearing it!

    Good job.

I think the new Hemi is overated. Not enough torque. Have yet to see one in the 12's.

like what was previously mentioned there heavy boats, 4000+ pounds, it's funny how the average guy at a car show calls my 69 gs an old heavy boat, or a heavy old tub when it only weighs 3500 lbs, which is significantly less than all of the new pony cars, even imports like the nissan maxima weigh in at 3600-3800 lbs depending on options.

If it had dual exhaust it's a v8 model, most likely rt, thats generally how you can pick them out, true for the mustangs too, not sure about the camaro's.

Yup, Idk bout camaros though, well it seems true about the older models too

UPDATE: I guess I won;t be uploading a video, The Rivi threw out the fuel pump!! IDK how, I guessing that was the problem as if wasn't wanting to stay on, The bolts came off, I had the hood open while i turned the engine, since I was timing it, and I say the fuel carb line shook violently and i shut the car off and the pump had come loose. I hope it didn't mess up the new double roller. I'm going to have to pull the engine to end the oil leak and fix the problem with the fuel pump. :ball: I'm never going to get this car running just as a driver! Man And my mother's honda is not working, It left me stranded, till I got it home, the ignistion switch broke so I have to hold the key on the ON position and after a couple of miles, your fingers start to ache, I have no car now :ball: and I have to be at college 2day and the UC san jose Library for research, This Rivi almost doesnt want me to drive it:blast:

Keep loving your riv, it'll be good to you till the day it dies (if you ever let it do that) i've had one it was a 95, nothing like the class of your car, but my friend johnny-o had a 67 we used to cruise around in (i almost bought it the day before he did) that thing was hammerd out, ugly, old bondo falling off it, oh, and we kept driving around in it for a few months (six) after the hood flew up and cracked the windsheild, and dented the roof.... still looked classy without a hood, with that 430 all dull and mucky looking stickin out in the wind! cool cars, even on their death beds! (the 95 was the most comfortable, best highway cruising car i've had)

Have yet to see one in the 12s? Go to your local race track. On our hemi website we have 17 5.7 HEMI Rams in the 11s and 12s. Those are 5000-5500 lb trucks with a 5.7. I'm sure there are thousands of 6.1 liter chargers, magnums and challengers in the 11s even. We also have a member with an 09 Ram 100% stock that ran 13.75 with the new 5.7. Keep in mind that's 5000+ lbs in a 5.7 liter...not a 7.5 liter. I'd say that's impressive

Oh yeah, SRT8 Jeeps run 12.9s 100% stock. So much for not enough torque... 5.7s are rated at 390 ft lbs from the factory. I believe that is more torque than any buick had from the factory other than the 455

You think building a 455 4 speed skylark will be cheaper than fixing up the rivie you already have? I don't think so. 4 speed swaps are not cheap and you already have the SWEET Rivi

I'm a college student too and it sucks but you have to be patient

I'm not saying a GS clone/ conversion would be cheaper but i've seen a lot of 350 skylarks for around the $2000 mark and can serve as a daily driver, plus I can save the 455 and drop it in. As far as the Riv being cheaper, it can and can't be. I need some body work which I was quoted at around $6000, Remember, there is not a lot of after-market support for Rivieras OPGI recently made their product line for us but I've already seen complaints. I would have to have a pretty fairly clean car to begin with.
The Buick GS is a car I would Love to have.

As far as the Chargers running stock, thats respectable, and of course an srt8 model will have more ummphh but Keep in mind, that my Rivi weighs pretty heavy, the 455 although with great torque is just a 1972 rebuild not the more power model, lower compression, and I have no POSI. Now if I had upgraded some items, like a stall converter to transfer the power better, throw in a posi, and upgraded the 455 to stage 1 specs, then I believe it would still be a respectable car, Well I understand new technology is superior to older iron tech, but I still think the Rivi, still gave it a pretty good run.

Yea I love this rivi though, Im most likely going to keep it and attempto finish it

I would bet your rivi is withing 500lbs of what a new charger or challenger weighs. Oh I'm sure you gave the Charger a good run and there is nothing like old iron and old school technology. I was just stating a few facts because I know a lot of guys on here talk crap about the new hemis but they don't really know what the hemis are capable of even in stock form. My daily driver is a hemi ram and at 4800 lbs I ran 14.81.That's not bad

Hemis are bad but as far as modern vs old iron...I'd take old anyday. Especially if it's a Buick or Pontiac

I was just saying that it will be hard to get a running and driving car for 2K that will be in better shape than your rivi. You'll be starting over and probably run into a set of new problems. Unless you just want a different car, keep the rivi.
