Hey Guys, I have the actual manual for 68 but it specifies that I need to run a hose off the manifold to work the headlights on my Riviera. Now I don't have the 430 in it, I have a 455 with the 455 intake manifold. It seems to have different fittings than the 430. Plus I want to keep the 455 one. How to I get the vac system to work off a 455 manifold.

I might also end up buying the edelbrock manifold for clearance issues. How will that workout with my vac headlights?

I know there are some rivi guys out here with 455, how did you guys get them working?

Any kits to convert them to electric?

    Thanks

    hey!
i have an edelbrock performer manifold (same for the 430 and 455). i dont remember having any problems when putting it in, vacuum-wise or clearance-wise. i cant remember where the vacuum comes from exactly, but there's a picture of it somewhere on this site, i'm sure.
the vacuum headlight system is well... IMO it's a pretty lousy design. it's rather complex and those cans that work the lights tend to go bad. prepare for challenges.here's the electric conversion kit. you might have to modify it.
here's a modified camaro vacuum system.
    peace!

I don't think that electric Comanero kit will work with Rivieras !
The Camero lights are fixed and only the doors move - on a Riv the entire headlight pod moves, so it won't be an easy mod.
I do agree, as will many others,
that the vacuum headlight systems on '68/'69 Rivieras is a "Royal PITA" ! :moonu:
You should be able to use a vacuum source from your 455 engine manifold to keep the original vacuum headlight system functioning, just like the power brakes? :Do No:
