Olds had 455's 1n 1968. They put them in the big cars and were transplanted into the Cutlass Hurst Olds.

    Were they American motor

err, yes? any General Motors design would qualify as "American".

aside from the transmission bell housing pattern the Oldsmobile 455 is a completely unrelated design to the Buick 455 though.

and how much hp do they have.

depends on whether you can trust what you have been told and what application they pulled it from.

if it came out of a 1968 Toronado, it could have 375hp or 400hp.

if it came out of an 88 or 98 it could have been 310hp or 390hp with the Police package option.

I don't know. Try some online research through google.com or some Olds sites.

maybe you could post a picture of your motor. might help.

Don't oldsmobiles have the engine size cast into the block by the bellhousing area?

Re: Anybody know what is this engine

Not a Buick 455 at all. Maybe a Pontiac or Olds?

If Pontiac then on the exterior they look pretty much the same for a 326, 389, 400, 421, 428 and 455. You will need to look for some numbers.

I don't think that is an Olds, looks more like a chebby or a Pontiac by the valve cover bolts.
