    Hi folks,

need a little help here, i have a 68 GS 400 and need to get into the dash to fix the heater controls and install new radio and speakers.

Before i start breaking things was hoping to get some help in the removal procedure of the dash pad and cluster.

I don't see a lot of fasteners so hoping I can get a few tips. The 68 is that year where you cant really get anything new or old for that matter so I don't want to break anything.

Also anyone know of any shops who can recondition the chrome? on the bottom of the dash bezel?

    Appreciate the help

    OK guys,

so i tackled the cluster removal today.. Wow, what a process. very clear the cluster has never been out of the car. Just in case anyone cares, you need to pull the radio and and the glove box so you can access the nuts to remove the dash pad as the first step, the ends of the dashpad just pull out. Once you get through that there are 4 screws on top of the cluster and 4 3/8 inch nuts at the bottom that are very tough to get out, need to almost do those by feel cause you cant see them. I did drop the column to get more room

Once its free its the usual disconnecting of the PC harness and speedo cable and all the wires for everythng else.

i ran into a defroster duct and a broken (blue) Heater control cable. If anyone has a line on those id appreciate it.

    Good luck!

Hi Frank, Did you ever get any of the info you were looking for, or is the job done. I am completing a resto on a 69 and may be able to help.
