A few years back, while attending a Tuesday night cruise, the local "Burn Out" king, who drives a '71 442, was pestering me about my big ugly four door 225. :ball: Said If I were to tub it and put hydraulics on it, paint it orange and put skinny tires on the front, it might look decent. :jd: He kept it up all night untill I challanged him to a race. I know a man my age should not have done that, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do. :TU: We lined up on Rt.78 and let 'em rip. :3gears:
Let me tell you, when that old 430 cu.in 360 ft.lbs. of torque launched, the only thing that 442 saw was the six foot wide tail lights on the Buick. He never even came close. Needless to say, only one of us returned to the cruise. 'nuff said. Oh, by the way, I had a passinger AND the trunk was full of tools and parts . Someome please tell me again some of the reasons I love Buicks.

Can't get enough of those 430 Electras,
Quite a few years ago I had a '69 Electra and everywhere me and my best friend went we took my car because it was fast and, well, he didn't have a car yet. His dad was a big Ford fan and when we went to look at a 70 455 Electra for sale for him, his dad came along driving his 70 460 Lincoln MarkIII. His dad was a former circle track driver till he smacked a 57 Chevy against the wall at the track and the missus put an end to his racing fun forever. To compensate he always drove fast cars.He had a 442, a 61 Aston Martin like Bond had in Goldfinger and a few other toys but he thought the big 460 Ford in a smaller car would surely blow my Buick away. Three stoplights in a row I kicked his butt. My friend bought the 70 Electra and with no tune up on the used car he never drove before he kicked his dad's butt also. His younger brother had a Dodge dart with a small block in it and thought it was so light that even the small motor should allow him to kick my butt so I had to blow his doors off a few times too. He learned well because the next time I saw him he was driving a 69 Wildcat. Their Dad never did convert to Buicks but I converted the sons and he never owned a car faster than his kids ever again.
